Am I screwed for the Bio Exam?

I'm taking AP Bio and we've covered chapters 1-20 (I read 17-19 on my own) and chapters 50-53. I know a lot about molecular biology, cell division, genetics, and a little about ecology but almost nothing on evolution, body systems, and plants. Also, we've only done 1 lab so far. The lab was looked at cell phases under a microscope. It's not that I have a bad teacher. It's that my class has to move really really slow. My school is...not made of the most hard working students. (I recently missed a week of school, came back, and scored a 93 on a test. Everyone else got F's. They got a new test for extra points, were told exactly what would be on it, and people still left portions of it blank. -_-) My course studies from the Campbell book. By searching through threads I found out that most of the material in this book isn't on the test. We have not touched chapters 22-49 and I really don't want to cram 30 chapters of fillesr and facts into 3 months when I have to study for the ACT and other AP's. I also read that the Cliffs notes cover nearly all the material on the test. We also have a Barron's book at school. Do you think that if I memorize the Cliffs notes inside and out and study the Barron's book that I will be alright? Do these books explain the labs I didn't do? I have the highest grade in all of his classes and I really need a 4 or 5 on this AP exam.

If you know Cliffs inside and out, you will get a 5.

I’m in the same boat as you. We are on chapter 22 as of now, and haven’t touched what seems to be the most important topics. As far as labs, we have done at least 8, so were good on that boat. I’m going to start reading through Cliffs, as all CC’ers say it’s a sure fire way of getting a 5.

Best of luck!

I win - 19 chapters we covered so far haha.

I really don’t know what I’m going to do. I had a schedule planned out since early January - but I can never get to it. For reason, I don’t feel comfortable studying directly out of a review book, but honestly covering 30+ chapters in 78 days is unrealistic for me (and to mention, I’ll probably retain nothing). I started covering the plant unit this past weekend, which isn’t going so well lol.

I guess I’m gonna have to cave in eventually…

Nice to see I’m not the only one…

Yes, I completely agree.

:D Have a bit of confidence. One only needs approximately 50% of the test correct to obtain a four (perhaps even a bit lower).

CliffsNotes is best if you wish for a slightly more abbreviated study time. The multiple-choice questions are not particularly perfect, but the rest of the material is condensed very nicely.

Cliffs and lots of cramming!
