I got rejected at all of my schools
I really thought I would get into atleast UCI but rejected there too.
I am really depressed, somehow had hope to type this up.
I wanted to be a doctor but now I think its impossible since I couldn;t get into a single college
Someone please help!
I really dont want to go to community college…
It’s ok to be angry and disappointed but dust yourself off and make a plan. Where did you apply? Do you need aid to attend? Is there a need to stay in a certain area? Stats?
I’m sure you’ll get some good suggestions if you post more info. If you want to feel better, search how many famous people got rejected for things before they succeeded. The point is to find a solution, don’t give up.
With a 1450 SAT & a 3.75 U/W GPA, you have the exact same stats as my nephew, except he is URM. Attending UGA after being waitlisted & has a conditional transfer option to Georgia Tech. He & his family would not listen to my advice regarding essays & application strategy, and their results were not good.
If you plan to apply next year & I am still on this site, I’ll help you regarding app strategy & essays.
There’s plenty of schools with admissions still open. Search around you’ll find one.
If you weren’t admitted anywhere, it is because someone around you failed their adult responsibility to make certain that your list had at least one dead on safety that guaranteed admission for your stats and that you could be happy attending. For students with weak grades and test scores, that would be a local community college.
Students with better grades and test scores have more options. If affordability is an issue as well, check the thread on automatic scholarships in the Financial Aid Forum. Some of those places are still taking applications.
Whether you could get into the colleges on your list this year is not necessarily any indicator of whether or not you can get into Med School one day.
If you are a California resident and eligible for UC admission, but didn’t get into the campuses you selected, you should be eligible for another campus.
Did you apply to San Diego State? Fullerton? Long Beach?
Why not go to Merced? You have ELC.
I applied to 4 UC’s: UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, UCI and didnt get into any.
What decent schools have available admissions still (anywhere but preference for CA or other western states like AZ).
I feel like UC Merced isnt well known and I don’t really like the campus.
U Arizona Barrett Honors would be a great option.
Also U New Mexico is a good school and you can still get a lot of merit from them.
UAH or UAB still offer merit too I believe.
All would allow you to get ready for med school and minimize loans in undergrad.
University of Iowa has a May 1st deadline.
If you really want to be a doctor, you don’t care whether or not the school is well known. You care that you can take the classes you need to prepare you for the MCAT and get a super high GPA. Medical school is probably the most difficult of all the graduate schools to get into. You need to be willing to sacrifice a lot to even have a chance at getting in. Now, I know that Merced is out in the middle of nowhere so I don’t know if you will have the facilities nearby to do the volunteering you will need, so I’m not recommending it, but I really feel that there are far more important things then whether the school has a prestigious name or whether you like the campus.
Pretty picky for someone who has turned up their nose at attending a CC and has no other options on the table. I suggest playing the hand you were dealt…
Central College in Iowa still has open admission. It’s would probably be a bit of a culture shock, but with your stats, you’d probably get 1/2 total cost in scholarship.
In May, NACAC will post a list of colleges that have still spots unfilled for Freshman applicants. Some of the schools listed last year included University of Arizona, Willamette University and Whitman.
UC Merced is a very good option if Pre-Med. You will be a Big Fish in a small pond and your GPA will be very happy.
You can also take a Gap Year and reapply with a better list.
Are there any schools in Arizona with admissions open?
University of Arizona is still open. I believe until May 15! My son did not apply, but because my husband went to grad school there, they somehow have him on their mailing list as a legacy and just sent a postcard inviting him to apply! PS - I just checked and the website is saying June 1st for Fall!
Go to UC Riverside. I don’t know why you didn’t apply there if you want to be a doctor because it has a guaranteed admission to their new medical school if you get certain grades.
Or UC Merced if you are top 9%. If you do well there, you can go to a good medical school. Or transfer after 2 years. I know a kid who went to UCSC, got 3.9+ and transferred to Berkeley.
A person more likely to succeed must make the best of your situation and work from there. There are many, many different ways to get to where you want to go.
I didn’t apply to UCR. Also how do I get int UC Merced without applying? I didn’t receive a letter or anything yet.
Also @momof2boys65 I also got the invitation for U Arizona since my parents went there. I also saw that ASU had admissions going on still.
Would ASU or U Arizona be better to get into med school?
so relieved…
JUST GOT INTO UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA WITH 30,000 PER YEAR IN SCHOLARSHIPS!!!
