Am I Screwed?

Hi People,

I just got my semester grades, and they are horrendous.

AP European History 93
AP Calculus AB 92
AP English Lit. 90
AP Physics B 72
Business Management 84
Yearbook 83
Community Recreation & Leadership 90

GPA: 3.17 UW

I feel like my life is over. Will this severely hurt my chances??? Won't colleges realize that I have an extremely rigorous courseload and that I tried to focus more on my APs???

My stats:

CGPA 3.73 (8 APs in total)

SAT 1: 2170 (680/790/700)

SAT World History 770

SAT Chem 720

And I'm applying pretty much to top tier schools:

NYU Stern
uPenn Wharton
Brown
Dartmouth
Cornell
Columbia
Williams
Swarthmore
Bowdoin
Northwestern
U Chicago
U Michigan
Duke
Georgetown

Would appreciate any advice.

So what's your safety, Michigan? There are several good schools whose deadlines have not past that I'd get an app into if I were you. No your life is not over, chances are you might get into one that you applied, and if you don't the Knox's, Kenyon's, and Bucknell's of the world are very good schools that you can be quite content w/ and proud of, too.

So I got my semester grades and Im a junior here they are:

AP/IB English 3 B
AP US History B
IB Physics C (73ish)
AP French 4 B
ASB (Leadership) A
Math IB SL (Calculus/Prob/Stat) B
Basketball A

Theyre pretty Bad I know but is this a turn off to say Ivy League schools because I know that colleges grade apps somewhat hollisticly. My frosh-soph grades are exceptional but this year was a tough load. Assuming good SAT scores ( i got a 2200) and good ap ib test scores, will a c kill me????
Its really worrying me, I would do anythig to get into Wharton or a good school for business.

where do you want to go to school and why?

Williams and Swarthmore are not at all like U Michigan and Duke

you seem to be only intrested in "top names" you need more than that in to dicide which school is best for you.

The only BAD grade is AP Physics. You are not screwed. Your SAT is reasonably high.....higher than about 95% of college applicants.

Your business management grade is not awful but its not stellar either, and that may affect your Wharton application and Stern application. But maybe not.

The truth is that schools are as interested in their own image as you are in yours. Thus raw scores are very important. I dont think your gpa is that bad and your SAT is good. I dont know what they will do, but perhaps you could add a few match schools with late applications...but pick schools you can see yourself doing well and being happy....just in case you end up there. You will be surprised how many kids with VERY high SAT's go to state schools or even second tier LAC's. And they are very, very happy and doing very, very well. Its a complete MYTH that you MUST go to an IVY if you have scores above 2150. That is nonsense.

Look in the mirror and ask yourself who you REALLY are and what you REALLY want to do and then pick schools that match your personality and scores. And get cracking. THere are plenty with 1/15 and 2/1 application deadlines. Lots and lots of good schools.

Then see what happens in April.

Good luck.

How about Fordham? It has a superb College of Business Administration. Lots of kids are at Fordham with very high SAT scores. You would be a great student there and its a fun school, though very rigorous academically.

But get moving!

Yea the Business Management grade is low because its IB curriculum, unfortunately, our school doesn't even offer IB courses. But this is mentioned in my recommendation.

Any advice on some good/low matches with good economics programs?
