hi, i was admitted for rd last fall for smith, but after sending in my final transcript in may i recently got a letter saying that my final grades were inconsistant with my previous academic record. From what I see I had finished two first semester courses and took two extra AP courses so I wouldn't have two empty slots. These two AP classes were extremely hard and I ended up with a B in one and a C in the other. As for my other classes, I actually improved in my grades since my admission in April.

I'm very confused at this point. I don't think I've been kicked out, but am I put at a disadvantage for selecting courses for the upcoming year? How does reflect on me as an incoming freshman? Did anyone else get this letter?

2) A letter would clearly either request an explanation, stipulate actions on your part (such as taking summer courses), or rescind the admission, the latter being an unlikely event without dialogue between you and the admissions department.

In any event, this would be an unusual enough circumstance that you wouldn't be receiving a form letter over it that you could expect someone else to have received as well.

In any further event, when seeking opinions about very unusual circumstances specific to both an individual and an institution, it's far better for the individual to contact the institution directly. I recommend this handy device called a telephone.

Yeah, I would just call up the admissions office for further clarification. Sometimes those letters sound a lot scarier than they actually are. You won't be put at a disadvantage for your freshmen year because no one selects courses until they get to Smith in the fall. The lette could mean any number of things, so I would just call and ask. The admissions office is very friendly and someone there should be able to help you out.
