Am I supposed to be registered at the NCAA Eligibility in order to receive an athletic scholarship?

Hi, I’m Diana, I’m from Russia and I am wandering if I am supposed to register in the NCAA Eligibility in order for me to be able to receive an athletic scholarship. Am I supposed to register there or can I do without? Because for me, as an international athlete, I have to pay 130 or so dollars which, frankly, is a bit too much for me right now. Any advice?

For example, this is on the FAQ on the website : "Students must be cleared by the Eligibility Center before they receive athletic scholarships or compete at a Division I or II institution. "
Does that mean I am supposed to register, and without my registration there I will not be able to receive an athletic scholarship?

Yes, before you can compete you must register with the clearing house and submit copies of your SAT/ACT scores and original transcripts from all high schools attended and then a final transcript from the school you graduate from. You don’t have to do this for D3 schools.

Check with the school you will be attending to find the deadline. It’s just another cost, like taking the SAT or the application fee. If you are getting a scholarship, I’m sure it is worth more than $130, and I’m sure you are paying a lot more than that to travel to the US.
