So my dad went to community college and a couple other colleges but did not graduate .my mother did not go to college at all. I’m not looking for loopholes I just want to know if I am the first person to go to college . I just need some clarity
Well – you’re asking the wrong question. Certainly, you’re not the first person to go to college. However, there’s no check off box that asks that exact question.
The Common App will ask your parents’ general demographic data which includes amount of schooling achieved. I believe one box is “some college” or something that indicates no degree was obtained. You’ll mark that for your dad.
But what you fail to understand is that each college will deal with that data how they see fit. Some won’t care. Some might care a tiny bit.
You’re searching for a loophole but in reality, it’s just submitting your correct info and seeing what the colleges do with it. Both are really out of your hands.
