Am I unlikely to be accepted to biomedical engineering programs at duke, jhu etc?

ok. So lately, I've been thinking about what major I want to do in college and i've been interestedin biology and biomedical engineering...and i've been thinking about applying to the duke, jhu etc programs for biomedical eng...however, I feel that my application/ ec's/awards really mainly show focus towards biology...

Oddly enough, I would have marked your application as a humanities-oriented one, as indicated by your awards. Keep in mind that many applicants for the BME programs at these schools have several 800s on their SAT IIs and multiple 5s on science and math APs. For Hopkins, I would suggest retaking the Bio SAT II as well as Math II and chem/physics, as these can help your app stand out statswise. However, your class rank and SAT I are practically stellar, so they will definitely help your app. The main problem seems to be the lack of science/math awards, like State Science fair, USNCO, USABO, Intel, etc. As your app stands right now, I would say you have a markedly better chance at Hopkins than at Duke. Best of luck!

well. i am going to be part of a research paper, and my supp rec should be amazing…won’t that carry weight?

bio, math, chem, physics? lol i don’t think i can take ALL those.lol. i think i’ll just take the bio and math II…sigh. i can’t believe i put them all off. i would nottt have been in this situation if i’d taken them when i took the class
