A lot of memory and puzzle type challenges this year. Surprised that the couple got stuck on the spears. Probably a product of over thinking. I do miss some of the physical challenges which often resulted in physical comedy. Who can forget the watermelon slingshot backfire – yes, I am a fan of the Japanese game shows where people get destroyed on ridiculous obstacles, a guilty pleasure.
They showed that watermelon slingshot backfire (OUCH) as part of a flashback during the first episode when they mentioned that TAR was hitting 1 million miles this season. I thought we would be seeing flashbacks throughout the season but I do not recall seeing any others. Did I fast-forward through them on the DVR?
I’m loving this season! Loved every challenge (well, except walking down the side of a building!) so far.
Sad to see the latest eliminated team. I was rooting for them from the start (along with the other favorite!) I was surprised to learn they had only been together a short time, they seem very grounded and connected.
That was some shifty U-turning. Smart of the volleyball boys.
While it’s been fine for this season I hope these several team alliances is not the future of AR. That’s a trend in some other shows like Survivor or Big Brother - I don’t like it so much on AR!!!
Loving the season but I’m oddly not firmly attached to any one team. That is unusual for me.
I like the vball boys and the football boys.
I also dislike the alliance, but these are strong teams and would probably have been the top 5 anyway.
I believe this was filmed 2 years ago ???, I hope the winners haven’t had to wait until it aired to collect the money.
I like the football players and I liked the brother/sister team that were eliminated tonight. Honestly though, I’m not in love with the other 3 schemer teams and can’t stand “the boys” or “the brothers”. I find them so conniving and just annoying. I wish they would shave those beards and was almost hoping for one of those speeds pass things they used to have that would require that. But guess not. Also there were no weird food eating things this go around, but I wonder if someone had a weird food allergy.
I have to wonder if this season was stashed for 2 years for some reason. Doesn’t make sense and all I can think of is that there was nothing super exciting about any of the teams and no real drama, just annoyance, or at least my own annoyance lol. It made me wonder if they do any kind of test marketing before a season because we know there have been seasons on after this was filmed, so what is up with that?
My son knows one of the contestants and knew she was on it before it aired, so they definitely didn’t have to keep it a secret that they had been on, just a secret as to how far they made it. He knew in the spring of 2019 that she had been on it. Of course, he never told us until the week before it aired. Men!! He knows we love the show!
I also am not a fan of the alliance. I thought that The Boyfriends did not appreciate that NFL Gary helped them with the counting of the pillars last week. Glad the NFLers did not go home, although DeAngelo made a big mistake.
Not clear why the Beards did not Uturn one of the stronger teams. I could see why NFL Uturned the weakest team, which turned out to be the right move. I hope alliances do not carry on to (hopefully) future seasons.
The Beards didn’t want to UTurn the other teams because they were in the alliance so UTurned the NFL guys to keep anyone else from being able to UTurn.
The three team alliance really wanted to get rid of or slow down the NFL guys. I wish the volleyball brothers hadn’t wasted their u-turn and let things go like they should have. I think it would have been more competitive and given that DeAngelo was the worst with the tile detour, the three teams might have gotten their wish to see the NFL guys go!
I find myself leaning towards the married couple. They’ve just been good at all the challenges, more so at communicating and supporting each other, even supporting/helping the other teams.
Agree with this.
I find the “boys” just too conniving and manipulative and not in a good way. Like seriously, with Ilana and Leo? They were out to get them from the getgo and they weren’t even a strong team. And Leo is the one that helped those two with the stick shift.
Totally agree in regards to the NFL Gary helping the boys with the pillars and then they just had it out for them.
To me it makes no sense when you have an alliance with a strong team and then instead try to eliminate the weakest team. I understand why Deangelo felt he had to Uturn brother/sister except they were also right on his butt so perhaps if he had Uturned the boys who it also took a long time to do the tile thing, they would have been in better shape since it seems that brother caught on to the tile thing pretty quickly.
One problem I’ve always had with the show is that they do try to make the time between teams appear much closer than it really is so we at home never really have a sense of how many hours behind a team is. It never seems all that suspenseful, it’s just kind of annoying. I would much rather see more dialogue and interviews, especially of teams that were eliminated. I also think they should pay prize money to each team the longer they’re able to stay in the race. First place is nice, but for teams that make it until close to the end, like the brother/sister but never get first, to met makes no sense that they get nothing for basically finishing 5th. It shouldn’t only be that 1st place wins something all the time.
At the end of the day, I’m just glad there are no “Rachel’s” this season. I definitely couldn’t handle that drama.
I missed the show last week so maybe that’s why I feel a little differently?
Originally this season was supposed to air after Survivor ended last Spring. They had even started advertising it. But then with the Covid shutdowns, I think the network was afraid they wouldn’t have enough programming, so held it until the fall.
I still like the volleyball guys. I like the football players. The married couple is very cute and always so happy and grateful. I feel like the boyfriends are causing most of the drama.
I just watched this week’s episode last night. I was not surprised to see the brother/sister team go and did not expect them to last this long.
Of the remaining teams, I am rooting for either Chee/Hung or the Beard Bros. I do not like how calculating the Boyfriends have been and how they have manipulated other members of their Alliance. NFLers are okay too and how they do in the remaining legs is going to depend on the physicality of the challenges.
This season has gone by way too fast.
I think while we can judge from our side of the tv screen, in the moment and with other circumstances that we likely don’t see an the hour of taped video that ends up on our tv, I am not in their shoes at that moment making a quick decision.
I love the love that the boyfriends have for each other. I think they sort of are the “super fans” and really prepped before coming on the show.
The married couple are sure and steady. They could also deserve a win. I think the volleyball brothers have played hard and smart.
The team that went home was the weakest team left looking back at the whole season.
Unless a move is REALLY nasty I chose not to judge what seems like a mean decision.
My least favorite team is the boyfriends. I think they don’t come across as being not very nice or grateful at all. They come across as mean.
My favorites are The married couple. I like the volleyball players and football players okay. I loved how the sisters lost so graciously. The brother and sister were nice but they weren’t a strong team.
Agree with @mom60 – the boyfriends seem catty and cocky. Between the other 3 teams, I like all of them: the couple are very even-keeled, the beard bros are having a blast, and the footballers are breaking stereotypes (the bigger guys sense of awe and wonder during the art gallery task was fun to watch).
The blondes were frustrating—they obviously didn’t measure up but come on–they survived TWICE as a result of non-elimination rounds? They had to go.
It’s not a lot, but all the teams make some $… It’s not just the winners who make money. Fan site reports that Aaron from Season 6 spilled the beans on how much everyone else earns, with the second place team raking in $25,000, followed by $10,000 for third, with prizes gradually dwindling down to $1,500 for the last place team.
That makes me feel better!
