Amazing Race 2020

I miss the good old fashioned eating challenges (and I do not count having to “force down” a few beignets as a challenge)! I remember a challenge where they had to eat a HUGE bowl of borscht with only a teaspoon. One guy threw it back up (into his bowl!!) and had to eat it again…

Those beignets were quite large.

That’s interesting…I always found the food eating challenges the least appealing of the challenges…to me those belonged on a show that was about weird foods and crazy physical challenges.

My favorite challenges on TAR are the ones where a certain amount of brain power helped (mostly for strategy) but were mostly “luck” - like finding the correct lock that fits a key, finding a container with a specific number, etc. Those always made me feel like anyone could go on the race and be successful, not just the strongest, or most virile.

Maybe it is because I am a Survivor fan but I didn’t mind the alliance. This alliance was very loyal and tight but I can see teams in the future being involved in multiple alliances which would create another layer of strategy and suspicion to this game/race.

Agree, food challenges never did it for me either, although the one I can’t forget was the wasabi handroll wheel. Just the thought of eating a handroll full of wasabi makes me want to cry!

I was a little disappointed in the last couple of episodes of this season, so I went searching for Amazing Race Canada. I had to resort to YouTube vidoes, but I very much enjoyed seasons 1 and 2. The competitors were interesting and genuine; the challenges were extremely challenging.

Yes, we always look forward to it.

I love TAR Canada! I watched season 1 - and am taking my time moving to the next seasons. What a fun way to see the country.

Is TAR Canada only in Canada? I should look this up.

We finished season 10 of TAR. Was a fun season - mostly dominated by navigational and transportation challenges for the teams. It looked like car trouble, getting flights and in the end, having an EZ Pass determined the outcome. That appears to have changed in the newer later seasons …

This season 10 also had several food challenges - hated those. Who wants to watch folks trying to cram food down their throats and throwing up? Ewww…

No. But the race is primarily within Canada. Seasons 1 and 7 were exclusively in Canada.

We ended up watching Season 20 together over the holidays. Was fun.

Has anyone here watched all the seasons? If so, are there any specific recommendations? We’ve watched maybe 5 or 6 seasons thus far.

I have

You really can’t go wrong with any season except 8, which sucked.

25 is the best recent season, but overall, the older ones are the best, especially 1, 3, 5, 7, 11.

I’ve watched them all but couldn’t give you specific “good” years.

I remember liking season 21.

I’d avoid the family edition of Amazing race (not sure what season it is) as well as Season 3 which had one very obnoxious winner (although her partner was lovely) IMO.

Season 8, noted above

Sorry… didn’t know the season number

I have to say we LOVED the family edition. That was early in our AR days, but my kids still speak of a couple of the teams. It’s different dynamics because it was teams of 4, but we liked it!

Currently starting at season 1 with my (adult) D. We used to watch the show together when she was a kid, and now that she’s moved back home (hello, Covid days!) we decided to start again. Season 1 is so raw, but still super fun and we wholly understand why we got hooked on the series.
