Amazing Race 2023

Yes, catching her eye-rolling when her Dad was struggling with all the steps, constantly being critical of him – while her at the same time lacking crucial focus and just basic common sense, causing major mistakes. At least the editing is not very complimentary of her.

Okay, to the basic skill of driving a manual car add the ability to ski JUST A LITTLE to the pre-TAR things to practice. That was pretty bad for more than a few teams.

Did you really book the trip??? My sister in law traveled their before Covid and her pics were STUNNING. Who knew?

So sorry to see Anna Leigh will still be on my screen next week. :frowning: I really can’t stand her. You can be encouraging to your partner who is older but DO recognize your dad is maybe 25-30 years older than you and may not be able to perform as well as you physically! Plain and simple, I think she is a BRAT.

Continue to love the dad and son. There is an example of encouragement to the older partner without being condescending. Hope they use the express pass wisely.

Opinions: what would you do? If you are the brothers and you are going to get your 3rd in a row 1st place simply by following and then outrunning the wife and husband…might you - knowing you will not start the next leg more than a minute later - give them the 1st place finish? It’s happened before, but in this case it just felt a little selfish to me.

Yes! My wife booked it (for late spring). We don’t know much about the country or what we’ll do, so all that needs to be figured out.

Agreed. I think (?) I’m younger than her dad and I know I wouldn’t be able to sprint up a thousand steps at the pace she expected.

(Lena! Why couldn’t you have gotten the directions right? :exploding_head:)

There have been cases where there was only 1 pair of tickets left on an earlier flight, etc. It can make a difference to be 1st vs 2nd, and after all it’s a competition, so I don’t fault them. And if they had ceded first place and lost an opportunity to gain a significant head start in the next leg, they would look foolish for having given up their advantage.

Wow, congrats on that trip! Very jealous! Also I wish my spouse would be so moved after watching a show to book a trip!

You’re probably right about the 1st place - being that they were ticked at the female friends for following them, they didn’t have any problem doing the same to the husband/wife and taking the 1st place.

I would go for the win every time.

Couldn’t believe that Anna Leigh made her dad walk up all those steps - you were running so late to the challenge - why would you believe the fast pass is still up for grabs? And those steps didn’t look easy! Can’t believe that despite all that, they managed to survive and the girls didn’t. The girls bickered too much and were really too bad at directions. Also Lena seemed to get incredibly stressed out at every challenge.

The scenery was so beautiful - definitely would love to visit this place sometime!

Wow, what an episode last night.

Agreed. I’m so surprised Rob and dad messed up like that and then decided to switch. I would’ve thought that they could just start that task over and forget the one bag of mussels, but I guess not.

I had the same thought. I wondered if they were told (and I missed it) that they had to recover the bag to go on with the task - otherwise if all teams did the mussles there may not be enough bags for everyone.

Anyway, glad they recovered from the mistake - and they still have the Express Pass.

Yes, because there is a prize too. This week it was $10k.

This is the first season in a long time that I have more than one favorite team.

I was sorry to see the departure of the last-place team because they are local to me, but they just didn’t quite pull themselves together, so it seemed inevitable.

I enjoy many of the teams. I don’t care for the Texans but I give her huge props for her speed and determination.
I am planning a trip in the late spring and I was set on Spain, Portugal and the Pays Basque area of France. I found myself googling travel to Slovenia. It looks so beautiful.

Sounds like TAR could prove to be a boost to tourism in Slovenia!

I’m catching up but I have 4 soccer players in my family, 2 goal keepers including my husband, my husband said he’d kick the first 3 somewhat randomly and aim for the 4th.

The brothers getting first is getting ! Are they playing that well or are the challenges just not conducive to much shuffling in position???

I think some of the challenges in the last few episodes really favored the two guys because they are taller. The ‘build a dragon’ involved lifting heavy piece high, and you could see the women had more trouble with that. They’ve also been mistake free for a while.

They’re just very good (we’ve seen other positions shuffle quite a bit - for example Steve and Anna Leigh moving from last place to 2nd, and Rob and Corey dropping from 2nd to 4th, so it’s not the challenges).

They’re smart, athletic, good with directions, don’t misread clues, work together very well, and don’t waste time bickering and blaming each other. Although not the team we’re rooting for, I’d be happy to see them win.

They are logical and have a good sense of direction. Unlike others, they seem to read their clues as well.

For example, they knew they were first so chose the “needle in the haystack” challenge. For the dragon, they started at the bottom and worked their way up. It doesn’t matter what direction you start in, but do it methodically so you don’t have to take the whole thing down and start over.

I was impressed with the thinking on the “needle in the haystack” challenge. I don’t think in the heat of the competition I would’ve had the presence of mind to consider that.
