That looks like a very useful device! Did you install it at the meter or closer to the house shut off valve?
I had the same issues. I ended up giving the bike away–put it on the local Freecycle and stated that there were problems. The person who took it was convinced he could fix it. I was glad to see it go.
It’s close to the shut off valve in the house. We LOVE it, and also have the sensors under the washer, fridge , dishwasher and hot water heater. It will also notify you on the text if it detects unusual water patterns and if you don’t respond to it, it will call you and then turn the water off. Once I was taking a very long shower shortly after we had it installed and I was doing it later in the morning after I had gone out for a walk. Apparently my husband got the message and almost turned the water off on me lol.
Thanks! And lol about the long shower!
Got some gifts for my niece’s baby shower in a couple of weeks, a queen bed frame for the guest room (got the headboard and nightstand on FB Marketplace about six weeks ago) and a hair catcher for my shower. H got a tall can Yeti coozie and an air fryer.
My niece got all the big items from a friend of hers who already had a kid, so no car seats, high chairs, backpack, pack and play, etc. I was already going to make a quilt, but since the kiddo can’t sleep with it for a year anyway, I have some time (and there are five baby quilts ahead of her!). I just make them toddler-sized now and time it so the kid gets it when moving to a big kid bed.
Those look like nice purses. But… I’m not a big fan of anti-theft purses. It could still be grabbed off you. Or if absentminded (or prone to jetlag) like me it can accidentally get left behind at a restaurant (unless it is a cross bag that you wear at all times).
For our Europe travels, if my passport is not in my room it is in a pouch under my clothes along with one of my credit cards. (My cellphone is small, so if it is with me it is also stashed there.). I keep a few euros in my pocket for small purchases, shamelessly let my husband do all the credit card purchases. My husband and I have a small travel backpack for jackets, water bottle, umbrella maps…. and we take turns carrying it. In a way it acts as the “pickpocket decoy” - the contents are not irreplaceable.
I bought one to see if I like it, mostly bc I don’t want to carry a backpack around on my next trip. (I inherited my daughter’s old turquoise one when she finished that color phase; it’s perfectly comfortable but, shall we say, not very subtle.) I often don’t have pockets that fit my phone well and think I’d rather wear a crossbody than have my phone in my hands, as I generally don’t leave it behind in the hotel.
But you bring up good points. I’ll sit with it for the next week and then return it to Amazon if I decide it was more impulse buy than good purchase.
We use neck wallets and wear them under our shirt/sweatshirt. It’s slim. Just passport, credit card, and some money.
And then a regular backpack for water bottle, snacks, rain jacket or whatever.
These are the ones we have- my boys just got back from overseas and used them again. https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Neck-Wallet-Passport-Holder/dp/B07BQ5FXMB/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1MW6BZNILX8K5&keywords=neck+wallet&qid=1689307047&sprefix=neck+wallet%2Caps%2C308&sr=8-3
I know Prime days are over but this IS an Amazon great price and I’ve had it on my wish list (for the future, don’t really need it now) and you ARE talking about easy to use carry-ons or backpacks (this is not a backpack) so I thought I’d offer it up. It’s 33% off right now at $60.

My package with a very expensive floor cleaner seems to be lost. Amazon says that if I don’t get it within next day, I can request a refund. I do not want a refund. I want my deal.
These types of automatic shutoff valves have been around for a while (at least without the WiFi feature). I had one installed on W/D upstairs and another one in the basement by the hot water heater probably around 15 years ago. They would automatically shut off water to the appliance if a leak is detected. You can also get one for the whole house (with a bigger valve) but then you would have no water anywhere in the house if there’s a small leak somewhere.
if there is a leak somewhere you would want the water turned off til it was repaired!
Water would only need be shut off to the appliance that’s leaking. The leak can be repaired or the appliance replaced without shutting off water to the whole house.
but what if there is a leak somewhere else in the house that doesn’t have a specific gizmo to control the leak?where I live we tend to get pinhole leaks in copper pipes. Helps to have a system notify of leaks
A pinhole leak can be anywhere and you may not have a detector there to detect it. These automatic shut off valves aren’t meant to provide 100% protection everywhere. You have to choose what you want to protect. I only chose to protect against washer and hot water tank leaks (and install simpler alarms in other places).
The system we have detects water flow that is unusual. If there is more water coming somewhere at an unusual time or amount, it will notify us. I accidentally left the outdoor spicket turned on, but the hose nozzle was off. It dripped for a while because if it and we were notified. We then get the choice to turn the water off or not. Worked for us. Helpful. And only one control valve was added to the system. sounds ike for the others, multiple control valves are added. If you like yours, thats great. we love ours. Protects the whole house, especially when we are away.
Oh I see. How does it detect a very small leak, which presumably only marginally increases water flow?
Dunno. we have now had the whole house replumbed. Hopefully no more pinhole leaks.
AI at work! This is what Moen says:
“FloSense™ 3.0 technology uses machine learning to better understand and analyze your water usage patterns. With more precise monitoring and leak detection accuracy, your Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff can better protect your home by sending timely, reliable alerts when it matters most.”
Speaking of the Prime Day, there has been a sharp uptick in apartment building break-ins around here… the bastards know there will be lots of boxes full of good stuff in the mailrooms. Not just random dishwasher tabs and diapers.
