Amazon - Renter beware

RENTER BEWARE when you rent textbooks from amazon.com! (This may apply to other companies as well but my experience is only with amazon).

If you need to purchase your rental you will end up paying much more than the book was worth new and you will have purchased a used book.

Also, it is at their sole discretion when you return the book if they will accept it. So you receive a used book, use it for 3 months, return it and they say the cover is bent and charge you more for the book than if you bought it new.

If you call to complain the amazon rep will tell you that you have not rented the book from amazon but from an independent book seller and they have the right to set prices and rules as they see fit.

In the future we will buy textbooks used and sell them back to the store or students on campus.

Not sure if the OP is a ■■■■■ (one post in 2 years), but people should not have a habit of returning used items or new items as used after the return window. Amazon does keep track of your shopping/return habits and you could get banned from shopping on Amazon. They have a return policy in place for a reason and you should not be abusing it.

OP is talking about renting books and returning them at the end of the semester, not buying a book, using it, and then returning it.
