Reasonabledad - you can also get old AIMEs forpractice here:

Token and Texas, thanks! Son is now working through two old tests per day and will take the weekend class as well, I think. Both links were quite helpful.

MY AMC score would require me to get at least a 11 or more on the AIME to advance...not gonna even bother to study...:)

Why not? Unless of course your other studies don't leave you enough time. But if you have time, why not take a shot at it? There's no downside to extra math skills...

if ur AMC score + AIME score times 10= 200, do u qualify for USAMO?

not necessarily. It depends on what everyone else gets. Last year 11th and 12th graders needed about 220. First they choose the top 160 people or so based on USAMO index (that's your formula, above). Then, they take the lowest AIME score in the group (the "AIME floor"), and take everyone in grade 10 and below who scored at least that, regardless of their score on the AMC10 or AMC12.

is it more common to be one of the 160, or one of the other people who qualify for USAMO by getting above the AIME floor?

the 10 grade and below people who get the AIME floor will add another 100 or so.

118.5, 16right, 9omit

wanted to break 120 so id only have to get 10 right to qualify past aime, but i guess im no different than a 111.5, also breaking 120 might have made me the state winner....kinda sad, last year's state winner was something like 122. 1 question off. darn. not like im planning on getting 11 or even 2 on the AIME. atleast im school winner. wheeeeeeeee, yay for kansas.

how many questions are on the aime?

Kosuke, where do you go to school? I'm from Kansas too, Blue Valley Northwest HS. A friend of mine got an AMC score in the 120s this year, so if what you said about state winner is true I guess he's got a decent shot.

bvn... mustangs. its okay, no need to be embarassed, i know how much all you other bv schools wish you were the big N. but damn your friend.

well, last year the state winner i think it says scored 124 on the AMC12 b. and 123.5 was the highest on the AMC12 a. you can check it out to make sure. good luck to your friend.
dang, i thought i was the only one from kansas....this is awkward.

oh, lil jon- there are 15 questions on the aime.

Kosuke ~ Do you have a link showing the total results for the entire US? I find the AMC site hard to navigate....

This is last year's contest directory. I'm still waiting for this year's..

I have a question for all you AMC/AIME veterans. This year was the first time my school offered the AMC, and I am pretty sure I qualified for the AIME. When are we officially notified? Does my school get a letter? Or do I get one? Or do I get an e-mail? Sorry, but I am pretty clueless about the whole process...

AIME notification should be out by now, at least via email. Ask the person in your school who arranged the test what he has heard from AMC.

izzy - I'm with tokenadult. You should know by now (the test is a week from tomorrow!). You would need to have gotten 100 on the AMC12.

If you take the test as an individual, AMC personally sends you an email with your test :)

uh oh, that sucks...i thought i'd gotten 101 on the AMC, but haven't received any email of any sort yet. maybe i filled in the sheet wrong or something. >_<

did everyone else who thought they qualified receive the confirmation email already?

Kosuke, I've met two other people from Kansas here on CC - lionswim from Lawrence High, and CK61188 from Shawnee Mission South...well, despite the fact that our schools wish to kill each other, nice to meet you...

Jimmy - you won't receive a personal email if you took it with your school. The teacher at your school who registered will get the email. Check with them.
