AMC Competition

I know that the AMC competition is pretty tough, do you guys know of any good online websites with info on prep courses for this competition?

[AoPS Forums • Art of Problem Solving](http://www.artofproblemsolving.com/Forum/index.php)
[Crux Mathematicorum with Mathematical Mayhem](http://math.ca/crux/)
Also the MAA website should have some resources

By the way was anyone here in the amc competition last year or has participated in it before? If so what was your experience like and what specifically did you do to study for it?

Getting the Art of Problem Solving books helps.

AoPS books are good, but the most important thing is just to do problems - most of the stuff you’ll see on the AMC won’t be stuff you’re used to seeing in school math classes.

Ugh… I was so bad at the AMC, and I had no idea how to prepare for it. I took the AMC 12 in 9th-12th grade, and I got something like 86-110ish each time.

Bump!!!

Practicing a lot of older AMC12 tests helps. I didn’t do so (highest for me was 112), but my friends did (and they all scored from 120 to 144). It’s just a matter of learning new tricks for every problem.

Bump!!!

so, the advice here is just to do problems? is that it?

Last year I got a 85.5 on the AMC 12 and it was the highest in my school lol. I really want to move on to the next round this year though; I’ve been doing old tests.

Bump…
