The AMC score slot on the online application only has 3 slots, making it impossible to put the decimal part of the score in. This raises a seemingly petty dillema....

Round up or round down?

Thanks

Thanks

I think you should round up. Otherwise, call the school and ask them. They should know what to do.

Hmm, I rounded down :) oh well. Somehow I doubt it'll make a difference.

It won't make a difference. They won't care. Unless you had a 99.5 and you said 100, then it would.

I actually had a 99.5. I omitted the score because it was embarrassing.

Only on the MIT(and AOPS i suppose) forums will you hear kids talking about how a 99.5 on the AMC is so embarrasing... ;)

It is. I mean, I'm an Asian male, and to score anything under 125 is pretty embarrassing.

I know what you mean, maguo1.

I got a 99.5 too. And I'm also an Asian male. sigh

I did put it down as 99 though.

Did I mention that I got a 67.5 my freshman year on AMC 10? That was a disgrace to my race. At least the 99.5 was by far the highest in my school.

lol I was soo scared to get 99.5 last year ( I got one question wrong becaused I rushed it.. and didn't finish the exam.. so if I had gotten one more wrong I would've gotten 99.5) but hey everything worked out =p.. 99.5 is a pretty embarrassing score in my opinion, not becuase it low or anyyhing.. because its sooo close to the cutoff

I think they might care more about your AIME's, since it's a better indicator.

I'm asian and i got a 124...

But i had a fever, and both my arms were amputated after a freak snowboarding accident the day before. Also, i was mauled by dung beatles while taking the test. Athough, this is no excuse for my abysmal score on the AMC 12.

I'm just kidding, but i do hope to break 140 this year and make USAMO, i even bought both volumes of AoPS and started reading them.

Er, I got a 104.5 on the AMC 12 and a 134.5 on the AIME, which are truly dismal scores. Should I put them on the application?

how do you get a 134.5 on AIME?

Anyways, I got 123 on AMC and 7 on AIME, I feel so embarrassed, since it was one my stronger points. I totally bombed SATs...

Sorry, they reported AIME scores to me as the sum of my AMC 12 and my AIME score. I got 3. I mean, seeing as how I don't care in the least about math, I don't know if I should put it or not...

if i scored a 98 on AMC 12, should I bother to put it on?

thats nothing, I got a 5 on the AIME, and it was probably the easiest one ever. Ironically, I got a 5 on the AIME before that, and it was about 10 times harder.

I still put it though, making the AIME means you are in the top 2% or so of the elite math kids in the nation, and it helps.

Jeez, I feel stupid now.

sorry, if it makes you feel better, my friends make me feel stupid all the time...

what do we do if we don't know our score?
