How does an AMC 12 score of 122 look on the Caltech application look for a math guy?

I think anything above 100 is supposed to be pretty good, and anything above 120 is supposed to be very, very good. However, I don't think even Caltech cares too much about AMC scores.

Btw, is this for this year's test or last year's test?

You should put it down. It reflects pretty well on your math abilities.

just to be sure, anything above 100 reflects pretty well on our math abilities?
Because, even though it qualifies for AIME, it sort of feels....eeeeehm....not right to send something that's just above the passing score (like 100-110) to a such competetive school as Clatech (or MIT)

It won't hurt, let's put it that way, and it could conceivably help, so why deprive yourself of the option?

Would it be too late to send an update now? The usual ugadmissions@caltech.edu, and mark it as predicted - would that work?

Yes, that would work! You might also CC it to the counselor in charge of your file... see http://admissions.caltech.edu/contact/staff
