<p>If it has to start at 472 and end at 528, why don’t they have a 56 point scale?</p>
<p>^ completely agree-- doesn’t make any intuitive sense to have this range. </p>
<p>From what I’ve read, AMCAS picked this odd range so that neither any of individual sub-section scores nor the total would overlap with or could be mistaken for scores from any other standardized exam given in the US. (old MCAT, old or new scale GRE, PCAT, DAT, LSAT, SAT, ACT…)</p>
