AMDA

I am a senior in highschool this year. I attend Buncombe County Early College so I stayed in hishschool/college for 5yrs instead of 4 to graduate with my diploma and my associates in arts degree. I have always been a performer and will sing just about anywhere I get asked to. I have so many things going through my mind and am so anxious to find the perfect school for me. I am not the perfect student when it comes to academics but I have always tried my best. This is why I would love to attend AMDA. I have only heard "bad things" about the NYC campus and I plan to go to the LA campus. This seems like the perfect school because I need the proper training to make singing a career and be successful. To me success isn't being famous because honestly I would love singing backup. As long as I am doing what I love and making the money to support me and my family, I am good. Is AMDA the right school for me?

I will say this about AMDA; they do some job of marketing their programs to high school seniors as it seems to be the only non college program any high school senior knows. If you want to do a non-college programs, I think there are a lot of valid reasons for pursuing one. We looked at many acting ones in NY before ultimately deciding to go the college route.

There are many better regarded two year programs than AMDA. Many of the ones we investigated (Atlantic, Stella Adler, William Esper Studio) are acting only. However, Circle in the Square offers both. Take a look at the notables who graduated there including Idena Menzel (she went to NYU but Circle in the Square was an NYU studio at the time). Cap21 would seem to me something an MT student would want to look at before AMDA. I’m sure there are many others as well.
