American GPA system?

I'm from Canada, and in my school we don't really have a "GPA" scale out of 4, or 5, or whatever it is. Can someone please explain to me how it works? Is there some sort of national grading system? And, can you also let me know what a 94 percent average would be in the GPA format? Thanks in advance.

Well at my school it goes like this
A = 90-100 = 4
B = 80-89 = 3
C = 70-79 = 2
D = 60-69 = 1
F = <60 = 0

So you add up the total of your classes. Let’s assume you have 3 B’s and 3 A’s. That would be 3+3+3+4+4+4 = 21. GPA is 3.5

Of course, it varies from school to school. A 94% average at my school would probably be a 3.8 or so

The standard scale is out of 4. That’s also your unweighted GPA. Sometimes it’s out of 5 because the AP/honors courses give more credits. Your 94 average is probably an unweighted 4, the highest. Here’s the breakdown:

4=A
3=B
2=C
1=D

thanks, but, pyroza, how do you get 3.5 from 21?

21/6 (number of present grades listed) = 3.5

oh…lol, can’t believe I missed that. Thanks.
