American History/Institutions Requirement

On Bearfacts when I click on Academic Record>All Grades to view my unofficial transcript, it says my American History and American Institutions requirement is Not Satisfied. But I've taken US History and AP Gov, which satisfies it...
is the website just not up to date because they haven't processed our high school transcripts, or what? just wondering :)

I'm 99.99% sure that it's not yet up-to-date. :D

Did you get a 3 or above on the AP test?

You don't need to pass the AP test or get a 550 or above. You just need to have taken the US History course at your high school.

Hmm from what I know, the American Institutions requirement cannot be fulfilled through APs.

Also, they usually take awhile to update a student's status, especially if they're a freshman. Try contacting them, but I wouldn't get too worried about it - Cal has no reason or motive to deny you the credit. As it states on Telebears, it may take up till the end of first semester before status updates for freshmen :)

from the berkeley website:

I. Ways to Satisfy the American History and Institutions Requirements Before Enrolling at Berkeley:</p>

Both the American History and American Institutions requirements may be satisfied in the following ways:

* By fulfilling the portion of the "a" subject requirement for admission that consists of one year of U.S. history or one-half year of U.S. history and one-half year of U.S. government in high school with a grade of C or better. (Note: The "a" subject requirement is not the same as the Subject A requirement.)

* By passing with a grade of C or P or better, one quarter or semester of a transferable course in basic U.S. history or U.S. government at a college or university before entering Berkeley. Inquiries about which transfer courses satisfy the requirements should be directed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 110 Sproul Hall. Students may also go to Assist.org to find California community college courses that have been approved to satisfy the American History and American Institutions requirements. NOTE: Students who take and pass one approved course before entering Berkeley will satisfy both AH&I requirements.

* **By passing the high school Advanced Placement American History exam with a score of 3 or better; or the SAT II or Achievement Test in U.S. history with a score of 550 or better (500 or better if taken before April 1995); or the International Baccalaureate Higher Level (IBHL) "History of the Americas" exam with a score of 5, 6 or 7. (Only the American Institutions requirement may be satisfied by passing the high school Advanced Placement U.S. Government exam with a score of 3 or better.) **

* For students transferring from another UC campus: by passing any course or courses that satisfy the AH&I requirements of that campus.

What you're thinking of is the American Cultures requirement.

To the OP: You've satisfied the requirement, they must not have updated their records yet.

^Ah that's right. American Cultures :P Made a slip there.

What's funny is I got a 2 on APUSH and a 540 on the SATII US History exam, so I was so down until I read that the requirement can also be satisfied through high school classes too.

Yeah...so doesn't that mean that pretty much everyone has fulfilled the requirement? Since for UC's you need one year of US history anyway..
