Useless.
I suggest you post this on the music forum under “Majors” on this site.
This topic came up last year, and as I remember, the consensus was that for admissions purposes, not much help. But post again to be sure.
It would seem as if you pay for the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall and then put it on your resume. Application fee is $200+ and then
. The total Recital and Photo Fee for Solo Participants is $400:
– $300 Recital Fee, includes admission for participant and piano accompanist (if needed), Recital booklets with all Recital performers’ biographies and photos (for the booklet sample please click here), Certificate, Teacher’s Diploma, four guests’ tickets.
– $100 Photo Fee, includes set of digital photos taken by professional photographer during participant’s performance on the stage. Average set is 20-30 digital photos.
8. Recital Fee for Ensemble Members is $230 per Member plus $100 Photo Fee per group. Recital Fee includes admission for Ensemble Member, Recital booklets with all Recital performers’ biographies and photos (for the booklet sample please click here), Certificate, Teacher’s Diploma, four guests’ tickets per Member.
Worthless. Even our local musicians, who otherwise couldn’t even win at the local level, let alone state or national level, have won this so-called “international” competition. They’d then go to Carnegie, stand in line to perform among about a hundred other “winners” just so that they can put “Carnegie Solo Performance” on their college application. There are so many of these that the college admissions folks could not NOT have taken notice.
thanks everyone for the feedback.
