American Teacher Reference

Hi,
I’m currently a junior in the USA thinking of applying to study the social sciences in the UK. I’ve looked over several threads on this site and I’m aware of how the system works (focused degree, based on tests). I was recently looking over joint honours courses at some universities and there was one degree that caught my eye–Philosophy and Economics–however it is only offered at two of the schools I’m considering (Univ College London and London School of Econ). Most of the other schools offer similar degrees but it also includes politics. The former is the degree I’m more interested in but I will theoretically apply to the latter course at the other three schools, since they only offer it. I’m interested in politics and would definitely enjoy studying it, but when given the option to solely study other two subjects I would do so. My main question is how I should go about asking my teacher for a reference since I’ll technically be applying to two different degrees.
Thanks

So you’re planning on applyng for Phil&Econ at two places, and PPE at three others? I think a reference based on the first two subjects would be fine. (And if you did end up doing PPE you’ll find you only have to do a relatively small amount of politics and can concentrate on the other two.)

Actually, I think you can do Philosophy and Economics without Politics at other places - a quick google brought up York, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
