American Universities Abroad

Hi all-

I am interested in attending an American universities in Europe such as St. Louis University in Madrid, Jacobs University Bremen, Franklin University Switzerland, etc. Does anyone have an opinion on the quality of education at these schools or schools like them? Also, are their international relations programs any good? Any experience with these schools?

Thanks!

I have the same questions!!

They’re not very good. But if you don’t have the stats for Georgetown, Tufts, Macalester… they can be an option.
You also have McDaniel in Prague I think.
Bard in Germany is okay.

Consider also Akita University in Japan. Classes are in English and it has an excellent reputation.

@MYOS1634 is the Madrid SLU campus not academically comparable to the main campus?

NYU in Abu Dhabi. Study economics, party with the elite in Arabic.

SLU Madrid is legit, as are NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai. I don’t think the overall experience is as good at SLU Madrid, not sure for NYU.

Why do you want American colleges abroad? The university colleges in the Netherlands teach in English. Obviously, so do the British and Irish unis (though their setup isn’t very American; though the Scottish and some Irish ones are closer).

Why not just study-abroad?

Anyway, there’s also Bard Berlin, though it is extremely tiny so offerings would be quite limited.

I currently attend The American University of Paris. The education here is good, but I feel that I would be more challenged if I attended another University in America. However, studying in Europe teaches you beyond the classroom - you grow to become a more independent and confident person. I highly suggest studying abroad for one or two years, and then transferring to another unversity (which is what I am doing). Good luck!

^ Or just go to uni in the US and utilize a study-abroad program.
