I wonder if there are any veteran CC's out there that have been through the MT audition experience at American University? My daughter is interested in applying there, and is wondering how it compares to auditions at other schools.

Both of my kids auditioned at American and were accepted, but both decided the BA wasn’t for them. There was no dancing. In general, it was a similar format to all their other auditions. My son was asked to do his monologue again, while running around the room! And when he just sort of jogged, the auditor jumped up and chased him!! He wanted my son to give it more energy and it certainly worked.

The atmosphere was calmer than most other auditions because there were fewer students auditioning. The current students working the check-in table were friendly. They sent feedback notes to the kids afterwards, with comments on their auditions. No one else we encountered did that.

Thanks for your post, Francesca! It’s nice to hear that it was calmer than other auditions- and written feed back is wonderful, and so rare! If you don’t mind my asking, where did your kids end up going?
