For me it was in second paragraph of the acceptance letter. They really need a better system of letting people know if they got in or not. In my portal the application still just says submitted under it.

@coffeebitch17 I got waitlisted to Fordham as well.
Hi I was wondering if anyone knows if au grants change if your parents income increases bc my mom is currently back in school and when she gets out we will be making more money but will I lose my grant
@heyocollegetime AU grants are given out based on your yearly FAFSA. So if you still demonstrate need in your FAFSA after your mom graduates you’ll still have it. So just make sure to fill out FAFSA every year.
But will the size decrease significantly at all bc even a big dip would be hard to pay while my mom is still paying off her own loans
@heyocollegetime It depends on what you fill in your FAFSA with and what your EFC for the next year is. The amount of your grant could change every year or go away completely. But nobody will be able to predict anything for you without knowing your EFC for this year and the next 3 years.
could that really be the reason why kids with pretty high stats get waitlisted? My daughter did not even apply and Georgetown or GW… But she was waitlisted with a 34 ACT 3.97 unweighted GPA/5.24 weighted SC GPA and 11 AP’s. She is kinda sad since American was actually really a place she had considered. We did not get to visit though.
@UpstateSCmom American heavily considers demonstrated interest. So not touring, being on email lists, doing interviews, or attending their webinars is a good way to get rejected.
I guess that might be what happened. We were going to visit but the only time we were in DC was during Thanksgiving break and they were closed. We drove through. LOL! Anyway, we thought she could visit after she got admitted. She did not get rejected but got waitlisted.

Accepted to American! Honors program, presidential scholarship… can anyone tell me more about Honors? I can’t find a ton online. Also has anybody heard from the global scholars program yet?
I got into the global scholars program. If you were accepted it was listed on the acceptance letter and an additional letter was sent afterwards.
@UpstateSCmom Yes, that could have figured into the decision to waitlist. She should let them know how much she wants to attend. I wish her all the luck in the world.
Following
@mindfulmom did your D get in? If yes, they have a Facebook Group for the class of 2024.
Accepted for mentorship program! Instead of starting spring semester, I’d want to study abroad and earn credits. I got accepted to Brandeis and Lehigh but am considering American because of the study abroad opportunity. My stats were mediocre, but I guess my essays were good.

hey! I was accepted into the program as well. Could we talk? I’m trying to make some decisions and would love to know what you know about the program.
