American University vs. Connecticut College

These are the two schools I’m deciding between, I’m wondering if anyone is able to maybe give their opinion of the pros and cons of the schools in comparison to one another? Any details about social life would be especially appreciated as I’m not as clear about that at either school. Thanks to anyone who responds!

Current students may be able to give better details as to social life, but here are some of our impressions after visiting both:

American University= a very pre-professional feel, with students talking about internships and career goals, and with lots of professional schools and internship opportunities. In a beautiful part of a major city. Lots of famous speakers and amazing internship opportunities. Compact campus, pleasantly attractive but not a ton of space. Division One sports (but basketball et al, not football), and lots of club sports. S noticed students talked about the city and internships and famous speakers, not about ideas and classes and professors… but that could have been just the people we met.

Connecticut College= classic small liberal arts college with small classes and close relationships with professors, gorgeous campus with attractive stone buildings facing each other across wide expanses of lawn, with sweeping views of the Long Island Sound, and an arboretum on campus: lots of space! It has a great career office and internships for a small liberal arts college- among the best for the top small colleges… yet it has a more intellectual, idea-driven feel to it in comparison to American. Its immediate area is quiet and you need to drive to cute surrounding towns like Mystic; very different from Washington,DC.
