American vs. Northeastern

So, I’ve been admitted to both, and as I’m a National Merit Finalist, I think the aid between the two of them will be pretty competitive.

I know I have full tuition from Northeastern, and am hoping for a similar offer from American.

I’m super undecided, both in terms of major, and which school I should go for. Could someone with more experience in the matter give pros and cons of both in relation to each other?

I know I want to do internships, and I know I want to study abroad. Boston and D.C. are both equally exciting cities for me. I’d like reasonably nice dorm rooms (no roaches or that sort of thing! XD)

Thank you!

well if you want to look at the scholar part of it all, then it depends on the major. if you are really interested in politics or business, then AU seems better. but keep in mind, AU might be a bit more expensive in terms like you might not be able to afford your own car or get a nice apartment since its Washington DC. Another plus about AU, you might be able to get some cool internships with Congressmen and such. But if you are more into the science field, then you might be better off going to Boston.

Both are well-known towns with roughly equal weather. If you already heard back from other colleges and those two are the only ones you really want to go to, then you might consider visiting both, i dont think you will know which one is a better fit until you do.

these websites might help you

http://*********.com/
http://www.
.com/

-i dont know why its not working so google “*********" and "” separately and for each result, click on the first link

Heh, guess those sites are censored here.

I got accepted to both also, but I’d go for american. there are so many opportunities in DC.

I’m not sure I agree with the above assessments of DC vs. Boston.

The weather is not roughly equal.
D.C. winters are MUCH milder than Boston winters.
On the other hand, I think that the cost of living IS roughly equal. Boston is as expensive as D.C.

well if anything

of course, no spaces. CC is a little iffy when it comes to posting about another website

Well, Northeastern was more generous to me, so that’s going to influence the decision…

have you visited northeastern and american?
I’ve visited northeastern twice, and the dorms they showed me kind of looked like jail cells. the walls were basically made of weird bricks that were painted white.
american’s dorms are much nicer

^American had a lot of forced triples last year didn’t it?

I think you have two good choices. It will depend on just how undecided about majors you are, and what appeals more after visits I think. It’s not unreasonable to think about the money either!

The honor’s dorms are about the same quality from campus-to-campus, and I honestly don’t mind.

I’m spending my summer in cabins in the woods watching about 12 campers, I’ll have no sense of personal space by the time I go!

I’m going to try to attend an admitted students day for both I think.

^Ha! Me too on the cabin with campers thing, so I’m feeling you on the personal space issue!

superorange: the honors dorms at NEU are the new building International Village, which looks and sounds quite nice. Where is the honors housing at AU?

honors housing is in the third floor of all south side dorms are honors and hughes has 2 honors floors.
