Americans think they're the best at everything.

And you’re wrong, again. Pearl Harbor, Lusitania, 9/11…we weren’t at war with anyone when each of those events happened. We were attacked first.

And we don’t always instigate wars. Look at World War I and World War II for example. We didn’t instigate either one of those-came in late to both of them. But, keep believing what you want to believe.

Pearl Harbor: The US was attacked without provocation.
Lusitania: Economic provocation of Germany but no military provocation.
9/11: We had never attacked al-Qaeda or Afghanistan, who were “enemies of our enemies” during the Cold war.

@ iamsounsure (great username, btw) - you’re from a Caribbean nation, likely a developing country. I’m wondering if your animosity toward the US is due to political tensions…that would explain a lot, especially if you’re from Cuba. I mean, there are many reasons people hate the US, I’m curious about your specific reasons…your criticism of our country applies to many nations…it seems you’ve simply chosen the biggest target, which I guess it easy to do. Easier than examining your own country and its history, i suppose.

to add to the list:
Revolutionary War - unfairly taxed without representation, colonized by world power, economic provocations…
War of 1812 - britain imposed trade restrictions and forced impressment of us citizens (taking their ships and forcing them to work in their navy)

yeah, i’ll let a History major finish it off, i’m not gonna look up every war.

Past wrongs … as in the Holocaust? as in Vietnam? There plenty of things that could be called wrong, either because they’re morally inexcusable or politically stupid.

Yeah, empires don’t last forever - another reason American exceptionalism is silly. And I’m mad? Huh?

America is not in any way an “empire”.

To be fair we currently tax “non-citizen residents” without representation a lot more than the British taxed us. I think it was more about not wanting to be ruled by an overseas power.

It’s economically dominant worldwide. Not a classic empire, sure.

^^^Well there were other issues involved besides just taxation.

Anyway, I believe the bottom line of this discussion is that America isn’t perfect.

This site needs to have a userbase that isn’t so easily tricked by obvious ■■■■■■■■. Honestly people…

i would’ve missed this completely in the OP if someone hadn’t pointed it out on the first page.

“and also why dont anyone deal with those black people. most of them just cause conflict, get thrown into jail, and take jobs that the white people don’t want. is that why they are here? to take the jobs that white people dont want?”
■■■■■.

also, can we stop the debating & stay focused on the ridiculousness of the OP. fun times.

I came for the debate thinking sounsure was the OP.

That’s hilarious.

haha you listen to the UN.

Yea, I’m surprised people turned this into a seven page debate instead of immediately discrediting the OP by labeling him as a ■■■■■.

I don’t want to bother going through the debate there… But whoever agreed with the OP is wrong. I don’t care how good of a debater you are, you lost.

dude Americans are so stupid they think that places like London and Paris are like small towns compared to US cities. and they think that Hong Kong is like a small communist village. such dumbasses. why do u think ur country is like the only developed country without healthcare for everyone?

haha i feel dumb now for taking you seriously before, you’re obviously just kidding :stuck_out_tongue: yeah, you overdid it a little, although the funniest part was why we won’t deal with those black people.

but what’s funny is that even though you weren’t being serious, some other guy started vigorously defending you and debating…lol

im dead serious.

in that case, no one cares & you’re a loser.

/thread.

You obviously have a lot to learn then. Get through grade school and then come back to us.

I’m European, yet I agree that America, albeit not perfect, is a more functional, open and free society than Europe as a whole.

I hope after graduate school I can move and make a living there - only place in America I really didn’t like was New York City.

Eastern and Southern Europe are pretty bad in this economic climate, as is Iceland (formerly one of the best places to live). Western Europe and Scandinavia are better places to live than many areas of the United States though.
