America's Next Top Model

Even though this would have been a better thread if this had been posted earlier when the season had finished, what do you guys think of Eva winning?

One of my high school friends said she had seen Eva when Eva was a senior or an 11th grader, and my friend was a 9th grader.
Did you guys think she should have won? Who was your favorite?
I personally couldn't stand Ms. Ivy League(what's her face), she thought she was better than everyone, and I don't know how she made it to top 2 with that bad skin on her face.

i don't usually watch ANTP, but i have to say: i could not stand Ms.Ivy League either!!!!!! omg!! :D

lol. good, thank god I wasn't the only one.

Ms. Ivy League was Yaya. Yaya is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S. She did have terrible skin, but with daily treatments and good old cooca butter, it would tone and clear up. Eva was nothing but a flat chested short hair black Barbie. Yaya had it all.

you're kidding

Lol. Yaya, that's her name! Her personality was tooooooooooooooooooooo condescending, and she thought she new everything, and I'm so happy that biatch didn't win.

All of the past winners on ANTM have yet to reach top model status. It's alot different from American Idol, and frankly I don't have a lot of faith about Eva. Eva's too short to make it as a top model. There's only one Kate Moss, I doubt Eva can reach Kate status.

I don't like Eva... so many of the other girls would have been better.

Has anyone seen her magazine ad? I was at the gym two days ago reading a magazine and I saw her ad and I was like "Hey theres that Top Model chick!" to some women who were there and everyone who we "polled" thought she just wasn't model material.. but who are we to judge?!?!?

And I agree, dwerbowy, the title ANTM isn't really that great considering what the other, past winners have accomplished.... ie not much

I must admit that none of them have met up to the ANTM, usually girls who win modeling contest as #1 never get to be famous.

But I have seen last year's runner up, what's her name, the girl that had that disease and had a curly afro like hair, in a computer commercial, i think it was dell or intel or i don't know. Do you guys know which one I'm talking about?
She's also in some Los Angeles based fashion companies advertisement, I don't remember the name, but I was in Cal Mart where they have showrooms, and I saw her advertisement along their wall.

Also, I don't know about you, but that blind chick's white/blond hair was more scary than appealing.

her hair was originally light brown or something, Tyra thought they should dye it blonde to 'match her icy blue eyes'. but IMO she looked better with darker hair, better contrast. But Liek, about girls who win modeling contests never being famous, I think that's more of a US thing that world wide b/c Australia also have its version of modeling contests and they've turned out several top high fashion model including Gemma Ward who is just HUGE right now.

Didn't Eva make an ignorant statement about Japanese fashion? "I just put the stupidest pieces together." (or something along those lines)...she doesn't seem to be very cultured.

i hated eva. i like ann because she was an athlete, but damn did she cry like a biatch. from the top three i wanted the blind girl to win because she had gorgeous eyes, she was nice, and had a son...and yaya was a complete whore. she said she spoke spanish, french, and portugese...pfft...and i can fly.

the shows definetely a guilty pleasure. cant wait until next season. i wish the show had a the "bad models" tryout, like american idol has the "crappy singers" bit. it'd be kinda wrong though.

I personally wanted Nicole to win, she didn't seem like a stereotypical model and I liked that about her

Post some pictures guys!

i looooooooove americas next top model... and about the winners not making it, thats so untrue, its just in the modelling industry, there are probably about 10 - 15 well known visible models, but there are tons of very well paid models who ordinary people dont know.like most ppl dont know who karolina kurkova is, but she won model of the year and makes buckets of money. just cuz you wont see them that much doesnt mean theyre not successful. also, they wont be in magazines that much bc thats for commercial print models, not runway.

filmxoxo17, it's true that the modeling industry is less exposed to the general public but even with that none of the winners can be considered successful in the fashion industry. I'm very into fashion and fashion models. Trust me, if you ask anyone who knows enough about the fashion industry, they'll say that none of the ANTM winners are considered top models. None of them have been in the high fashion magazines such as vogue or W, or even the lesser ones such as Elle magazine and once you've been in vogue or bazarr that's almost a stamp that the model's made it to a whole new level. As for the shows, Yoanna did a few shows last summer in LA but with only less known designers. They aren't cosidered top high fashion models until they do a show with the big designers in NY, Milan or Paris or London which is why I can say with confidence that none of the winners are top models yet and actually many of the high fashion runway models do editorials in fashion magazines to build up their book to get runway shows and campaigns.

agreed...of course theyre not top models, like none of the american idols are 'idols'. i too know very much about the industry.

but kelly clarkson and clay have songs playing on the radio, they do award shows, their CDs sold millions and in the music industry that's considered at least semi-succesful and in the modeling industry the equivalent of that is someone who does tons of runways shows in the big cities, have editorials in high fashion mags and a coveted campaign or two. So when you compare the careers of the winners from ANTM and American Idol, it's clear that American Idol produces the bigger stars of that specific industry.

no clay aiken and kelly arent the equivalent of editorials in high fashion mags... hello, those are reserved for the big dogs. i know that the first model is doing terribly, and yoanna has a fledgling career (i dunno which direction itll go in, i never wanted her to win) but all im saying is that ppl expect to see the models on like, billboards, which isnt realistic if yyou actually know how the industry works.

that's not what I meant with the example of clay aiken and kelly. They are considered pretty successful in the music industry and for a model to be considered pretty successful she does the editorials and runways and such. So obviously Yoanna and Adrienne are not considered succesful regardless of how much normal people actually exposed to them. Most ppl in the music industry know who you are talking about when you mention clay or kelly even if they didn't watch the show, but in the fashion industry you ask a designer or a booker about adianne or yoanna they don't know who you are talking about. I wasn't comparing the top model status with being publically visible but just the standards of the modeling business which so far none of them are even close to meeting. I do hear Elise from season 1 is quite big in HOng Kong and eveh made the cover of Harper's and gets a ton of work in Asia.
