Amherst Chances (Please)

Hello, I will be applying to a few schools this fall, and I wanted to know my chances to Amherst College. Thanks for all the help!

GPA: 3.91

Young Democrats of American officer- 7 years
I am very politcally active, such as working election polls, registering voters, etc.

To many to list, but follows much like this.

So, do you think I have a shot? I am also applying to Brown, UCLA, Stanford, Whittier College and Yale College. Big dreams; I know.

Thank you so much!

You should work on your SAT scores. What are your SAT II scores?

For perspective on SAT scores, study this chart from the Amherst College website, in their section on Admissions:

<a href="https://www.amherst.edu/media/view/43646/original/61st%2BRevised%2BSSR.pdf%5B/url%5D">https://www.amherst.edu/media/view/43646/original/61st%2BRevised%2BSSR.pdf</a></p>

Your list is dreamy, but does not seem aligned with your current SAT scores. Please add some match and safety schools.

How did you manage to get an SAT score of 1956?

i was thinking the same thing

this is the most competitive year for high school graduates in the history of American higher education. None of us can really "chance" you since we're not on the selection committee. Admissions depends on so many variables including who you're competing with and what the college is looking for in a class. So, as we all know, the highest GPA and test scores, etc. can still result in a denial. This is why I find these requests from people to determine whether they are competitive somewhat futile. Most of the students denied from very competitive schools are outstanding applicants.

I was thinking the same thing, Impw. It really is tough, so the only people that know what they are looking for is the admissions department. Hopefully we can get in!
