***Amherst College Class of 2019 Regular Decision Applicants***

I got one too! @zzzmmm not everyone. the email said it was through diversity recruitment (“those admitted students who we believe have the potential to contribute to the cultural and/or socioeconomic diversity of Amherst” to be exact), if that helps.

I can provide stats if you msg me for specific stats.

D got the early write nod by Email and was invited to the overnight open house. Is it coincidental that it coincides with Williams admitted students weekend ? I think not

I’m with @norinco522 as I am concerned about cost, and we need to commit to the open house before info is out.

It is So crunch time!

Congrats to all accepted… Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting.

Me too oh my god!! With the open house and everything!!! I so didn’t expect this I’m so amazed I’m never going to be able to choose oh my god. Congrats to you all!!!

Congratulations to all you “early-writes”…you should be so proud of yourselves!

@Singersdad I’m in the same boat, since Williams and Amherst both pay for the weekend, I guess not? I’m probably going to the Williams one, as I’ve visited Amherst before but have never been to Williams.

Just got accepted! Since I live on the west coast I have been receiving all of my admissions emails during school hours and it’s been a real struggle because I don’t know whether to open them or not. Anyways I’m really excited but I am not sure if I can go to the open house because that coincides with a family visit to another state. Either way, being accepted is great! Did anyone receive anything about financial aid?

DD got in! Definitely flying her out. Congrats everyone.

I received admission yesterday with the overnight open house offer of transportation. I’ve never visited Amherst so I am excited!

Also I applied to Amherst over Williams because Amherst is better with financial aid so anyone worrying about that shouldn’t stress bc amherst meets need 100%

I also applied to Amherst over Williams (for other reasons) and received the early acceptance yesterday. I was just wondering what says Amherst gives better financial aid since They both meet 100% need? If you could also throw Swarthmore into the comparison I would appreciate it (applied and received early notification last week).

Amherst is a no-loan school, Williams isn’t (anymore). https://www.amherst.edu/offices/financialaid/firstyear_transfer/student_loans?shib_redir=246780893

Still having a hard time believing I got in! I hope to see you all in April!!! <3 Congratulations to everyone! You are all beautiful, intelligent individuals! :x

Seems like everyone’s getting in, congrats to you all. If I haven’t received an acceptance email does that mean I didn’t get in?

@Beckett‌ No it isn’t everyone. Those admitted early were admitted as diversity students so that they are able to travel to a particular open house. It’s based on their socio-economic as well as ethnic background. Don’t stress! It does not mean you were rejected; there’s hope for you (and me) yet.

@OHMomof2‌ and @Ovation4Cg‌ Just want to note that this totally varies for a lot of families-- Williams is significantly better for me-- so net price calculators are really the only way to go on comparing schools

@cvisser96‌ Oh I didn’t know they did that, thanks for filling me in… I was nervous that I didn’t have an email from them.

Has anyone heard a date for releasing the rest of the RD decisions?
In my mind I thought I was tracking next Friday for some reason but can’t find that written anywhere.

Youngest brother got into Amherst for the class of 2019. Does anyone know how generous Amherst College is with funds for need based individuals? It’s pretty expensive and would hate to see my brother not attend because of the college’s financial aspect.
