***Amherst College Class of 2019 Regular Decision Applicants***

This is the first time that I have created my own discussion ^^. Well, hello! I am a RD applicant to Amherst. It is well into the waiting process, but I hope this page can be of use to all other RD applicants.

Hello! I’m another senior, waiting, waiting, waiting

Does anyone have any historical data on release dates for admission email/letters?

On their website, it says “First year applicants should receive their online decision notifications around mid-December (for Early Decision) or the first week in April (for Regular Decision).”

That’s what every college website says: the decisions will be released on March 31-April 1. But today I received the decision for Washington University in St. Louis which means it has been released about 20 days earlier then the website said. My friend told me that I shouldn’t really bother about the dates on the websites because some of them aren’t true. He told me that I should look through the CC threads from previous years and maybe I’ll find something useful which is what I advise you to do.

Does anyone know if they send out the Awards Letters separate from the acceptance letters? My got son got accepted yesterday but no mention of money.

wrong thread

My D is waiting too. Last year their decisions were out on 3/27.

I was deferred from Early Decision, fingers crossed still though.

im going to umass boston, however, are my chances higher, if i wanted to transfer into amherst?

Another applicant, waiting anxiously to hear back from Amherst…

waiting…

@dubailad are you talking about UMass Amherst? Just not sure because you mentioned UMass Boston. UMass Boston is far easier to get into than both Amherst and UMass Amherst. Amherst is tougher than UMass Amherst.

@kayture‌ @dubailad - I agree, UMass has gotten much better in the past five years and is currently in the top 70 or something National Universities. (According to US NEWS) Amherst College however is one of the top two LAC’s in the country so you can’t compare the two. Boston is a commuter school and is a very differnt type of institution than both Umass and Amherst college.

Hello, everyone. I also applied RD. Wondering how Amherst compares to other liberal arts colleges like Wellesley and Williams…? In terms of its political science department, social scene, prestige/employability, and internship opportunities :open_mouth:

What is the time and date for admissions decisions? Can please someone help. Thank you

@Admission371‌ They haven’t released a time, but their calendar says April 1.

All the schools say April 1 so they won’t be hounded for the entire month of May. Amherst released last year on 3/28.

It’s making me irritated that they won’t reveal the real release date.

Hello all!
I’m Caleb, an applicant from the Commonwealth of Virginia!
I applied to Amherst pretty blindly, a shot in the dark for sure. And now I’m realizing the un-likelihood of me getting into any schools and the probability of me just going to UVA (which isn’t super tough as an in state student). Any advice on getting into Amherst? My application was fine and they now have my top scores, but should I show interest in any way? Did they do interviews for anyone? (I obviously didn’t get one  ) )
