So how is Amherst with getting their students into decent law schools?

well, the viewbook says 84% of students applying to law school get admitted on their first try. contextually, i have no idea what that means, but the number sounds pretty good.

The law schools most attended by Amherst grads are:
Harvard, Yale, U. Chicago, Columbia, NYU, Michigan, Georgetown, and Stanford

I also remember seeing somewhere that Amherst sends about 5 grads every year to Harvard Law

No, we're even better! Amherst sends about 15 grads a year to Harvard Law.

really? can you confirm that number in any publication?

(that would be a selling point for my parents, lol.)

http://www.law.harvard.edu/admissions/jd/colleges.php

Amherst sent 15 for 2004-2005.

That list is for the total enrollment at HLS, not first-year enrollment.

divide all numbers by 3 for a decent estimate of per-year attendees

I would like to know too. I do not want to be lawyer who sits at a desk and fills out paperwork--that sounds chills down my back. I plan on majoring in philosophy, so I might have to be doomed to law school, but international law (and business) doesn't sound bad at all.

hey, josh and everyone else, check out the amherst 2009 group - the link is in my profile.

congrats on the acceptence
