Which one is harder to get into?

Dartmouth has a lower acceptance rate, so it’s harder to get into.

I LOVE DARTMOUTH

Going by my HS stats, Amherst seems a lot more picky.
Both Dartmouth and Amherst are great schools and I
heard that there was some kind of shared education program(?)
where students can study a term in one or the other (not
sure what the details are).

Dartmouth was abused as a safety by the top 10
applicants at my HS and has over the last 2 years
waitlisted and admitted students from my HS rather
than outright though. # admitted went down from 8-10
to 2.

It’s close, but yeah, Dartmouth is tougher to get into, mostly because far more applicants try for the Ivies than the top LACs. They’re both great schools. S got into both this past year, but ended up going to Princeton.

The “shared program” Synth was talking about is the 12-College Exchange, featuring Dartmouth along with 11 top NE LACs, Amherst among them. It’s kind of a domestic semester away program.

are you referring to the UMass schools?

^No, that’s the Five-College Exchange. Know your exchanges! The 12-College is Dartmouth, Amherst, Williams, Trinity, Bowdoin, Colby, Wesleyan, yadda-yadda.
