Amherst or Williams...(or Wharton) for Math/Economics

I’ve heard a ton of info about how amazing the Williams math dept. is…award-winners etc.

So…I thought I would post this on the Amherst board to see if anyone from Amherst could give me a reason not to go to Williams (other than the 5-college consortium…)

Can nobody answer this one? :-/

Quite frankly, if I were planning on studying math in college, I would choose Williams hands-down.

What if you're interested in natural architecture/humanities/anthropology? Would it be a tossup then? :(

I don't know anything about those subjects....... though I probabaly wouldn't go to Wharton to study them

Haha, yeah, I didn't apply to Wharton ;)

Amherst and Williams are far more similar than different- despite what some on this site would have you believe.

If I lived in the Amherst area, I would probably go to Williams to avoid unexpected drop-ins from mom and dad, but Williams isn't all that far from you either. You really should visit both, and talk to the students and professors. Get a sense for where you would feel more comfortable. Don't rely on the advice of anonymous cc'ers, many of whom have clear agendas. Make the decision for yourself!!! You're in an admirable position.
