I did a search function, and I only found like one decent thread.

I'm a spring transfer from a community college, and I'm just curious if anyone has any insight to offer between the two?

Very different atmospheres/type of schools.

Do you want a small lac or a larger university?

I applied to both schools…waitlisted at Amherst and eventually rejected. I initially thought I’d prefer a small liberal arts college, but I’ve actually come to really love the structure of Cornell CAS. So you really need to think about which environment suits you best, although it’s totally fine to apply to both types of schools (I’m really glad I did - it gave me more options in the end). Feel free to PM me if you want to chat about it. :)

I’m at Cornell, and I have a friend who goes to Amherst. We are VERY different people. I love Cornell, and she loves Amherst. I think we belong where we are. Amherst seems to be very much like a smaller version of Brown from what she tells me.
