Transfer Students

<p>Is there any hope for transferring into Amherst's Class of 2011, even though they way over enrolled. I was wait listed the first time around (and eventually rejected) and want to know if I have any hope as it is still my dream school. After I got wait listed I called the dean of admission and he said there was nothing wrong with my application and all he wanted in addition to the little postcard was a couple of sentences stating that it was still my first choice, so it really hurt when I didn't get in (not to mention that it has been my dream school my entire life). </p>

<p>This fall I am heading to a top 20 research university. I am hoping that it will be a good surprise in the fall and that I will fall in love, but its hard since it isn't where I or anyone else ever picture me going. Hopefully, I will be able to move on.</p>

<p>i applied as a transfer and was waitlisted/rejected. they just aren't taking many people. cant say about future years.</p>

<p>yeah, this was the first year amherst seems to be extremely competitive in transfer admissions. last year they took about 18%, this year.. they took 11/200+.. the odds don't look good. However, don't let that discourage you from applying because you never know.</p>
