Amount of AP classes before senior year?

I will be taking 3 AP classes at least before senior year {US History, Biology, Calculus AB/BC <-depending on which one is suitable for me}, or 5 if I add in two other APs, but I'm not sure if that's a manageable workload for me just for junior year.

For senior year, I am going to take AP English, AP Calc BC {if I take AB junior year, or take Statistics if I decide not to take it junior year}, AP Spanish, possibly take AP Chem at a different school or self-study it, and AP Economics {this is only for a semester though, and CB doesn't have an AP Econ test anyways}.

I know that probably around 7-9+ APs are good, but I'll only be able to get in 3 or 5 APs by the time I finish Junior year. And only 5 APs if I take all 5 during junior year.

I'm planning to apply to UCB, UCLA, Harvard, Stanford, Yale, and Princeton {I'm still considering some other schools}, and if they see my application, they won't be able to consider my senior APs.

How many APs did you guys take before senior year, and if you took less than 7-9 by junior year, did it affect you? Because I don't want my chances to be killed by the number of APs I have or by overkilling myself during Junior year.

And the thing is, is that most of the APs will be geared toward math/science, while the area I want to major in is in English.

Thanks :) Please take this seriously because I'm really worried.

3 is fine long as you do well in them. I only took 1 AP junior year and now I'm a bit worried about that...

^ See I don't think it matters WHEN you take, just the fact that you take them. That's why I'm so glad colleges have a section for senior year schedules so you can show them that your taking more AP's then, compared to now. lol Shazilla, I'm in the same boat, but I don't think its anything to worry about :)

Hm, but college admissions officers look at your application without knowing which APs you took during senior year, so that means they will be looking at my curriculum up to junior year. Plus, they take a really short time to review each application...

ohh maybe. But with the schools I'm applying to, they added a supplement on where you have to show your senior class schedule. So I guess it depends on the university.

I only took one AP class in my junior year and then I took five in my senior year, and I turned out okay. In reality, the number of AP's you should take is based on the number that is offered, like in my school they only offer 12 classes [and you most likely could only do 10 max since it would be very difficult to do all three languages], so yeah.

There are 2 Economics AP tests - Macroeconomics and Microeconomics.

^ Oh, thanks. I didn't know. Thanks for clearing that up. Do you think a semester of Econ is suitable for any of those 2 tests?

Hmm...what universities are you guys planning to go for? And I searched my school's course selection guide again, and I realized I would be taking all of the AP and Honors classes given if I follow my schedule + more if I study on my own. {excluding one AP: french, because I take Spanish :P}

Then that's perfect, because school's just want to see what is the most rigorous courseload offered and that you take it, so good luck, and luckily I'm already done with college applications :D

Colleges just look and make sure that you took the hardest classes at your school. Your GC will have to fill out a form that shows what AP's are offered at your school. You can not be punished for not taking classes that your school does not offer. My high school only offered AP U.S. History for Juniors. So I was admitted to college with only having completed one AP class (not counting the ones I took Senior year).

2 - sophomore year
Will take 5 - junior year
Will take 4/5 - senior year

Our school offers a lot of APs as you can tell lol.. yeah..
