Hi,

I am from Pakistan. I have a general question.

US universities require the payment of a deposit by 1st May. How much has to be paid? Is it the full annual tuition fee or half its amount? I am not much familiar with it.

Thanks a lot.

The deposit for D1’s school due last May was $500. Deposit for D2’s school this May is $300.

Following payment of the deposit for D1, we were given a 10-month plan by the school, outlining how much was due each month; less the $500 we paid for the deposit.

I expect it will be similar with D2’s school this year and we will soon find out.

Thanks for your reply mirallwood. What is a D1/D2 school? Considering one of the colleges i applied to like wellesley or smith, How much would i have to pay on 1st May(the day i have to tell the final decision to one of them, provided i get in)? I am a prospective freshmen.

My apologies. D1 (oldest daughter) goes to a private university and D2 (second daughter) will be attending an art school.

The amounts probably differ so your best bet would be to contact the admissions office to inquire. Were you sent any acceptance letters already? The letter of acceptance will usually give you a log-in code (with username and password) so you can access a page on the school website. In our experience, this is where details of required payments, deadlines, and other pertinent information for accepted freshmen can be found. You will probably also receive packets of information from the schools that have accepted you.

Are you an international student? My two daughters are. I found the Office for International Students very helpful and often had my emails answered within a day of sending them.

Best of luck to you.

Its understandable. I haven’t received any decision letter yet. I am an int’l student.
I’ll wait around for the decisions. Thanks again.
