Does the old SAT count in the number of retakes? I've taken the old SAT once, so can I take the new SAT thrice without colleges averaging all my scores together?

i am curious about this too, i've gotten conflicting responses from people.

I want to know also... I don't know what to doooo

lol I also would like to know. Hopefully colleges will be more lenient as we are the only year to have to deal with the changeover.

...bump...

If you read through old threads on this topic, one thing is clear no college is known to average SAT scores! There's no such thing as a three test limit and no college will reject you because you took the SAT too many times.

I heard that the number 3 is max (for sat) and the 2 is max (for sat 2)

i think people and colleges stress too much on this dumb test, lol.

Hmm...if you're planning on retaking the SAT, remember that it is NUMBER of retakes...

Do o you all not get it?
No college averages SAT scores after you take the test a n number of times

Bill, they're unsure about whether or not the colleges will frown upon 3 or more retakes. I'm sure they understood that no college will average the scores once they read it the first time.

I know there's no rule about a maximum of 3 times only, but i would like to know if colleges do indeed frown upon 3 or more.

Is it true that taking the SAT more than twice reduce the value of the score? In other words will colleges look how many times you took it and if it's 3 or more then would they think "it took him 3 tries to get a 2300, it's not as impressive"

Do you think that 2300 (highest score of three tests) is more mpressive than 2200 (one time only)?

ha i want to know too

here's another bump on behalf of at least six curious people

bumppity bump

buuummmppp

This is a fact: ALL THAT IS REPORTED ARE TOP SAT I SCORES (and NOT the number of times you took the SAT I). When they get your computerized application (it goes through a process before they read it), it will say something like this:

SAT I: M: xxx CR: xxx

Writing will now be included, of course I haven't seen any because all I have seen are those from past years. Yes, I have seen the sheets adcoms read, I have family members on such committees of two large state universities, and one top ten private one. If it weren't illegal, I would scan one for you.

EDIT: For SAT II's, they seem to show two scores, first and second testing for each subject, instead of just your top. For AP Scores, they usually show one score only.

If what Sx91 says is true (and I have no reason to doubt it), it would confirm speculation here on CC that AdCom's only see a sanatized version of your scores. While CB sends colleges your six most recent SAT I and six most recent SAT II scores, when the data is entered into the computers, either directly from the CB data feed or by people working in the admissions office, most of the useless data is stripped away to get a concise overview of the student's grades and scores (which in the end, only make up a small part of your total application - you may have awesome grades and scores but bad essays or recommendations can kill your chances)
