So I was wondering do you need a perfect raw score to get an 800 on the Math section. I ask this because I left the of the grid-in blank.

-0 800
-1 790
-2 760

Usually ^

Yeah…varies from test to test but its possible to get one wrong and still get an 800

depends on how the curve is. but usually if you miss one its 790.

i got 1 wrong and left 1 blank and i got a 740.

It’s very rare to see anything but all correct get an 800.

Wow, so chances are I didn’t get an 800!

Usually you need everything correct to get an 800, but every now and then the curve allows you to get 1 wrong.

If you’re referring to the May one, there is no chance a -1 will be 800.

@pch340 Yes, I’m referring to the one in May. :'(

@pch340
will there be a chance that -1 ( one wrong ) is 760?

-1 760? I doubt it, that would be really harsh. It would dip down to 770 at most.

When I took the SAT (March '10), -1 was a 770. It happens on particularly harsh curves, but I think normally -1 is 790 for the normal curving.

@pastalover
do you think the may SAT Math -1 will be 770 too?
ppl say it’s hard but i don’t think it was
i wish it was a lenient curve
do you think maybe it will be 780?

^^ -1= 790 was the case in march and the math wasn’t too bad

wait, I’m so confused now… if I only got 1 wrong and left 1 blank, how did I get a 740? it seems like that would be an extremely harsh curve.

You’ll need to get everything right for an 800.

Well, I’ll find out on Thursday.

@leahmarie
that’s pretty normal
an “extremely” harsh curve would give you 730 or even 720 for that
-2 is usually 740
and -1 770
