Does Stanford allow selecting an alternative major on your application for the undergraduate admission?
You don’t have to select a major on the application. You are free to major in whatever you want.
But I would think that some majors are more difficult to get into. I would imagine that engineering would me more popular then let’s say English major.
If I remember correctly, yes, you can select more than one major. I believe it was three.
Yes, three areas of academic interest.
Thank you all!
FYI, regardless of the major you put down, if you have a shot at acceptance it’ll be obvious to which major you’re inclined. If everything you’ve done says engineering yet you put down English as a major option, they will not look upon that favorably (and rightly so).
@seal16. @Stanaccepted makes a great point that I try to emphasize to others…
…and, going even further…even, if one puts UNDECLARED…in all the boxes…the admissions staff will have a pretty good idea where the applicant is leaning…by their classes taken, extracurricular activities, research (if any), clubs, awards, essays, and recommendations…
…so, even if Stanford is looking to balance out the class with more fuzzies (humanities/social sciences)…be careful not to contradict one’s true interests…because integrity and being true to self (genuine) is very important…
