I was wondering what an "awesome" essay looked like.....because I myself feel completely lost with my essays....with the deadline coming up, could anyone give me some hints or examples??

feel free to message me. Thanks.

What college are you applying to and what might be your intended major?

i am also interested in what makes a great essay...
i am having a lot of trouble with the CAS and CALS essays...any advice?

My problem is kinda weird......I've already finished a supplemental essay for CAS, but the essay is mainly talking about my interests in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering AND Aerospace Engineering....so i'm really confused about if I should directly apply to the College of Engineering or to CAS....my scores aren't exceptionally high so i'm not sure if i'm up to the competition at the College of Engineering...which would be the better option? -To rewrite a new essay for CAS or just stick with my old essay for College of Engineering?

oh yeh...after reading my own essay, I find it well-organized, but lacking those really difficult words...should a awesome essay be full of difficult words or would it be ok if just what you wanted to express came through??

last~how can I truly show my interest in Cornell?? ~instead of writing "Cornell is major research institute, with world-renowned faculty......"~that kinda of stuff?

Many thanks to anyone who can answer these questions!
Kinda desperate for answers right now.....

hey i wrote my essay on engineering too. if u want to see how i did it, i can pm the essay to u (i think it worked out really well). Dont use big words............it'll be obvious ur trying to impress them. They dont want u thesaurizing everything. Of course, if ur talking about the human body and ATP or DNA, u probably want to use some big words.

Most of my ec's have to do with English instead of something math or science related and I haven't done any research.....does that it'd be better to apply to CAS??

just do what ur interested in. Forget if ur admitted to Cornell or not. If ur interested in engineering, dont settle for anything else. My friend in engineering says its really hard to switch in anyways.

yeah~it'll be great if you could PM me

thanks for your help.

if YOUR style of writing consists of 50 cent words, then by all means use it. however, if you don't use big words often, then don't. if you try to, then your essay will sound awkward because it won't sound like you. be yourself, but be wary.

thanks afchang23~i feel much more aknowledged on this matter!

yeah, just don't make it sound awkward/forced. write how you normally do; it's a personal essay.
