An Inconvenient Truth

Ugh, the arrogance of some people. For Shagnov already has "Cambridge, MA" for her location, and she starts at Harvard in the spring.

When something good happens to you, there is something called humility. Arrogance is never deserved. If you want to take the risk and try it, then you will fall victim to a great statement rendered by Conan O'Brian:

[quote]
You see, you're in for a lifetime of "And you went to Harvard?" Accidentally give the wrong amount of change in a transaction and it's, "And you went to Harvard?" Ask the guy at the hardware store how these jumper cables work and hear, "And you went to Harvard?" Forget just once that your underwear goes inside your pants and it's "and you went to Harvard." Get your head stuck in your niece's dollhouse because you wanted to see what it was like to be a giant and it's "Uncle Conan, you went to Harvard!?"

<a href="http://www.february-7.com/features/conan.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.february-7.com/features/conan.htm</a></p>

This is true. And for someone as intellectually inferior as you, for shaganov, I would be careful before asserting your superiority: you threaten to profane the background that has given you such a status, and you make your stupidity even more salient. Be it non-Crimson or Crimson students, they will all call you out on it.

Recall that Dubya went to Harvard and Yale, and you know what many think of him. I am sure that both Harvard and Yale are not proud to call him one of their own.

I took down Tucker Max in a previous thread, and I am not afraid to take down you.

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=201264%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=201264</a></p>

You're accusing me of being arrogant because I have the location of my future college in my profile? And of being bombastic?! Please, I think if anything, we're both guilty of that.
And I think that Conan O'Brian quote will happen to anyone who goes to Harvard, regardless of their "arrogance."
"As for someone as intellectually inferior as you, for shaganov, i would be careful before asserting your superiority.... and you make your stupidity even more salient...."
And I'M arrogant?! Whatever basis you think you have for calling me stupid, go right ahead and think that sitting in your room in front of your computer-- there are, as some people on this thread refuse to believe, much more important issues in the world.
No one said anything about Harvard/Yale bestowing character and intelligence upon everyone who recieves a diploma.
I'm really glad you have the balls to "take me down" over the internet. But as you love to say when you say cutting things to other people that hurt them: "I simply do not care."

Last I recall, "location" denoted where you are presently. If you want to play that game, then fine, I am in Cambridge, MA too.

That is an ad hominem fallacy.

And the consequences are even more drastic for you.

...and go right ahead and read that while you are sitting in your room... in front of your computer.

Yes, and you handle them like a freshman pulling at a panty-girdle.

[quote]
But as you love to say when you say cutting things to other people that hurt them: "I simply do not care."

Of course you do not. You are in a bubble: complacent and carefree. Harvard has somehow "redeemed" you, but I will be there when the bubble bursts.

You were stupid before you received the acceptance letter, and you were just as stupid after you received that letter. The letter did not raise your IQ by 60 points, and if it did, then I am sure as hell going to try for that acceptance. I could use a good 60 points!

Calling one person stupid is no arrogant, calling everyone stupid is. There is a difference. I have a lot of respect for certain posters on this board, Harvard admits too, and I definitely do not see myself as special or important enough for people to struggle for that respect.

In your case, however, my opinion about you is shared by many persons, including all the transfer admits to Harvard to whom I have spoke so far. Even if I am arrogant, my personality does not relieve you of inferiority.

now now...play nicely children. honestly nspeds and for shaganov, do you have to do this here? this forum is no place for personal attacks and has gotten completely off track.

reminds me of something i learned in a media literacy class. Godwin's law: As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.

hasnt gone that far yet but with the way you two are going it will.

HAHAHA "I will be there when the bubble bursts" That's so pathetic.

I'm not even going to respond to you calling me stupid.
I handle more important issues "like a freshman pulling at a panty-girdle?" Yes, I'm sure you would really know.
And according to your logic, if I weren't in a complacent and carefree bubble, I would care if you could "take me down?" Explain that one to me.
And if you really took the trouble to PM other Harvard admits or something and tell them I'm stupid and arrogant... you're acting like a 12 year old and again, I don't really care-- I'm the one who will actually be meeting them and befriending them. And if--oh no--people decide they don't like me before meeting me because of posts on a message board, I think I'll live.

hhahhaha pb32, godwin's law, that's funny. ok, yes, everyone obviously needs to chill, it is just a message board.

When exactly did Hitler found the Nazi party.

Given what I have read of you so far, and your posts here, it is quite obvious.

That does not make any sense. Take introduction to logic with Goldfarb.

And pass the class.

HILARIOUSLY enough... they told me.

Oh... they cannot wait to meet you. That much was established!

It is not a question of living or dying. Once again, it is a question of your stupidity... which is not really a question, but rather a matter of fact. Get some education while you are at Harvard. One year at Vermont, being obsequious to politicians, and being supercilious has not done much for you.

Not found-create

hitler brought the nazi party to prominence in 1933 i believe

Instead of debating on this website why don't you guys go outside and do something. Go pick up some garbage!

agreed. this thread needs to get back on topic. you guys have already taken up more than a page with your personal arguments.

Please...there is a reason for the PMs on this site. Use them...most of us really don't care for the personal bickering.

OK, I'm done. You can keep fighting, I think you're wrong, you think I'm wrong. It's also pretty cruel to say that people who I've never met and will be going to school with dislike me. I know you don't care about being cruel, to me at least, but you do rip me about for my percieved character flaws...
In any case, let's agree this is a waste of time and stop? Even if you don't think this is a waste of time, I'm stopping because I think that it is.

I am reciting vocabulary words on my computer. While I am doing that, I might as well make salient someone's stupidity, especially one who has been deriding other posters on this thread for faults that she posseses.

Agreed, and it must return to the thread with credibility. Merely saying that "all scientific journals back this claim" (like someone here did) is insufficient. Provide evidence. Go to JStor or something. Citing "An Inconvenient Truth" as a authoritative because it is just begs the question, which is fallacious.

sorry everybody

at least Shag apologized.

and unfortunately, there is nothing for me to base any posts on anymore because the last two pages have been chock full of accusation drivel.

i'll refer you back to my last two posts which i believe were the last attempted discussions regarding the global warming issue.

al gore does cite numerous scientists and journals in the film... which is where I derived the credibility from, not from the fact that he's Al Gore, a Democratic politician. The movie has actually made me really interested in science. I'm not naturally good at science, but I want to study global warming and even more so, stem cell research, because whereas a lot of the subjects I study (gov, history, etc) revolve around questions that purposefully have no definitive answer and that can be very frusturating, science seems like such a concrete way to potentially deliver relief to people who need it and to impart good on the world.

too lazy to check, pb. =).
i'll wait it out.
