An "off" semester

<p>Hey all,</p>

<p>I was just wondering if my chances of attending a top grad school are totally shot now. I received a C+ in a class that has nothing to do with anything I am interested in. I don't anticipate anything like this ever happening again. Am I going to have a really hard time getting in anywhere fantastic come senior year? I'm a freshman right now and my GPA is still above a 3.5</p>

<p>grad school admission is not like college admission. a C+ in a unrelevant class shouldn't hurt you so much as long as it is not a trend. grad schools are definitely looking for people who are specialized in a particular subject. </p>

<p>at this point i wouldnt worry about anything, but i would start finding a research position soon though.</p>
