I already posted this in the college admissions forum, but I think this may be more appropriate.

I would like to get anyone's opinion as to whether or not I have a decent chance at getting into UF. I am in my senior year and my weighted GPA is 3.7 and my SAT is 1940. I am mostly riding on my strength of schedule which includes both halves of AP Economics, AP Government, AP English Lit., AP European History, and AP Human Geography. I have made steady increases in effort since my freshmen year; for example, my freshman GPA averaged 3.2 with 1 AP course, my sophmore GPA averaged a 3.7 with 2 AP courses, my junior GPA averaged a 4.3 with 4 AP courses, and my senior year I have straight A's which averages about 4.83. The 3.7 GPA is before this year's classes have been considered and I am confident I will be graduating around a 4.0 flat which is much more in UF's ballpark. My extracurriculars include chess club, NHS, key club, psychology club, math club, a debate club that I founded last year, and I am going to receive the SDD. I would greatly appreciate any opinions

UF will not look at your senior grades, so the 3.7 is what your application review will be based on. Is that the UF weighted GPA calculation? In the 2011 Freshman Profile, 29% with GPAs between 3.7 and 3.99 were accepted. It’s the 4.0 that is a huge distinguishing factor for them. 82% with 4.0 and above were accepted.

As far as the SAT you are at the top end of the 1600-1940 range of which 40% were accepted, so things look better there.

Based on that, I think the GPA is the main thing that will hold you back. Any other hooks like URM, first time in college from your family, etc?

I wrote my essay on the Teen Court program that I did for about a year. It basically involved me defending and prosecuting other teenagers in court during hearings after they had been found guilty. This essentially determined the amount of community service hours and other things required as punishment. It involved crimes ranging from trespassing to drug abuse to violence. I became one of the programs most senior members in my area and often had to train new members. I thought this experience would be decent for my essay.

EDIT: Also, my brother has yet to complete college and nobody else in my family has finished college, is that worth mentioning?
