Analytical Essay?

Does anyone know how long (approximately, of course) the leadership essay on the CMC supplement should be? Or what kind of format is preferred (in my Lit class, a constant theme is that there should never be a sentence focused solely on "plot" without any analysis- is this true for the CMC essay as well?)?

at the info session on campus, the admissions person said 2-3 pages doubled spaced…i guess just don’t make it longer than 3 pages (;

Mine was about two pages double spaced, and a little over 900 words. I did a real analytical style like you would do in English class.

okay someone PLEASE help me with this!
who should i write the leadership essay on?
i thought of gandhi. that would be easy for me as i am indian and know a lot about him but everyone told me that its too much of a cliche. but then i thought that maybe everyone is thinking that its a cliche and not writing on him so maybe i could write on him…i really confused and the deadline is just around the corner!
all the people who got through ED or people already at CMC, can you guys please suggest something?
also i have never written an analytical essay because in the indian system we dont do that kind of stuff so could you guys tell me how exactly you go about it? i did google it but i want to know if i could write in first person and how personal can i make it?
wow so many questions!

but seriously anybody’s help will be greatly appreciated.

Don’t worry about whether it is cliche or not, since you have a personal connection to Gandhi as an Indian, I think an essay about him would be very effective. Just make sure it is written well and clearly reflects your ability to think analytically and creatively.

thanks!

but i also thought of writing on dhirubhai ambani.
he was the founder of india’s largest private sector company- reliance and one of the richest men in the world who died in 2002
do you think he is a better choice?

Considering that one the things CMC is known for is their Economics Dept., I think it would be a good choice, assuming he has had an impact on society or culture in someway.

This essay prompt was a lot different than that of other schools since its main focus is on someone else. Should we discuss our relation to the people we choose (how their work has affected us, why they are our role model, etc) or should we just discuss the person in a formal manner (without saying “I” or “me”)? Thanks!
