And Santa Barbara is buuurnninnggggg

Don't worry. UCSB is safe.

I'm not so sure about my high school...though...=/

Wildfire Burns Homes in Coastal Calif. Enclave - ABC News

omggggg i know!!! 20+ homes down?? what the heck!
I was walking through 24 hour fitness and i hear “you better pray your school doesn’t burn down!!!” awesome.

UCSB is way safe, trust me. It’s crazy though. I live like maybe 15 mins away from the fire…and the smoke was above my house today.

be ok imgoing2college! I wanna meet you at UCSB! T_T

Yeah, UCSB never seems to have any problems because it’s many miles away from the mountains… most of the fires affect the foothill areas of Santa Barbara. The only thing we had here was couch fires but even those disappeared when the cops cracked down on it lol.

Let’s do it! Where are you hoping to dorm?

And I’ll be fine…I still have lots of land to barricade me. But my boyfriend was evacuated. So sad =(

^ awww! I’m either choosing San Nic and trying to get into the scholar’s LLC even though I am not in honors ooooor Women in Science and Technology at Mani.

Yeah my first choice is women in sci in tech at mani…second was scholars at mani…then scholars at anacapa…then scholars at san nic haha

are you doing FSSP?

can’t, parents wont let me T_T

whhhhhhatttt?!
cuz it’s too far away?

oh well =/

that and its expensive annnnd its my last summer with them. It was hard enough to convince them to let me go to UCSB

Ah I see. I guess you just gotta see it from their perspective (even though FSSP seems like a great opportunity). Yeah…I was going to spend my summer in SB anyways…so…yeah.

You practically live there XD I wish I could

Yeah, but at the same time…a lot of my kids comment that they would totally want to go to UCSB…if they didn’t live in SB (to get more of the “going away” college experience). I don’t live in the city of SB, though, so that’s still a little bit of a buffer between my house. But, I still know how to get around SB and Goleta (UCSB is really in Goleta…not SB). So it really does go both ways.

See, thats why I didn’t apply to UCI or my parents would make me go there. I wanted that going away experience. Thankfully it seems your parents are letting you stay in the dorms!

Oh yeah. Definately dorms. I think my mom and I are both looking forward to having a 15 min buffer between us. I think it will help our relationship a lot. Not that we fight a lot or anything…we’re just both really independent and stubborn haha.

i heard its all up in the hills… so its probably not that close to the campus… still scary tho and it sucks for all those people losing homes

Yeah I know what you mean, my sister and my dad are the same way. I think thats the problem, cus I’m the baby of the family going away to college and my older sister who is a lot tougher then me didn’t leave home. So its tough on them.

Yeah it’s up in the hills. But since it’s so high and windy…it’s starting to rain ash over downtown SB.

But like I said before…UCSB is really in Goleta…which is north of the heart of SB.

^ that makes no sense to me, I’m directionally challenged.
