Hey i've just been reading alot of threads thats are all about substance-free people and i was wondering if there were any other people that have gotten into UCSB and are pumped for some parties??
Oh, and i was talking to a friend who lives in an apartment by the beach. I know about Isla Vista but does anyone know what that street that parallels the beach is called. She said it was like a less intense IV but still crazy haha.

IM STOKED FOR SB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so yeah is anyone excited for the parties and chicks? AND beach!!!

haha Yasu, i have to graduate in four years. I can’t afford a fifth year. I know my priorities im just pumped to have some fun while attending at a really good college

dude i’m with you. i’m STOKED for halloween and floatopia.

i think those of us who are open about partying are misunderstood because people just assume we’re going to fail out or take a fifth year, so no one admits that they’re excited to party. i mean, i’m an honor student, and i plan on double majoring, but that doesn’t mean i’m going to pretend i’m not crazy excited for the parties. if you can’t do it in college, when can you???

Im a senior graduating from ucsb, its my final quarter. Ive been through enough halloweens and floatopias to know what they are.

My fav moments of partying were not during halloween and floatopia, they are way too over rated. It is just bunch of out of towners come to our university mess up our neighborhoods and beaches and leave. Do you know how much pollution the floatopia did this year? 12000 students (majority are non ucsb students, but our “friends”) drinking on avg 3 cans per person. Do you know how many beer cans are floating around in the ocean right now? Do you have any clue how much broken glass is lying on the beach now?

Some of us went to the beach and did one week’s worth of cleaning, but we could only clean up 30% of it. It was disgusting. I just want to tell the incoming freshmen. Have fun, but make sure you dont pull off events like floatopia and ignore the consequences. Last thing you want to see while surfing is beer cans floating around. Last thing you want to smell while chilln out at the beach is urine from all those 12000 drunk people.

Have fun people, UCSB is a very special place. Work hard and play hard. Keep the events as local as possible. People from all the other colleges come to our university, party like animals, create huge piles of garbage and leave. They go back to their universities and call UCSB a party school.

Coloradogirl…and Moocho…sorry to mess up your thread and be a buzz kill. After what I have seen over the weekend, I just wanted to give you my two cents. I love UCSB, its your job as future students to take care of it.

party as hard as you work! thats the way it should be done.
there is a lot of talk about substance free shenanigans…it would be interesting to find out how many of those actually stay that way. i know a lot do. i also know a lot of people that were extremely against weed, but once they smoke they turn into major stoners. and the same for drinking.

First off, DP is the street that parallels the beach, and it’s basically the MOST intense place in IV, so not sure what your friend was talking about. On weekends, most parties are on DP, and you can find bands playing, or go to Jesus Burgers, etc. so it’s pretty intense!!
All in all, it’s pretty easy to find parties to go to on the weekends, especially if you are a girl (duh), and as long as you go out with a good group of friends (be safe! always go out with a buddy! haha), you should be golden! Good luck, and you’ll have a blast at UCSB :))
