Andover or Exter

Hi’ so I recently got accepted into andover and exeter but I’m having so much trouble deciding on which one. I’m entering as an upper, I play soccer, Love history and biology class… play piano and active in community service. What would you recommend? I’ve heard exeter is a more formal and strict environment while andover is a more laid back environment. In terms of homework and work in general which one is more demanding and rigorous?

In terms of attire, yes, but Exeter has become less formal recently. If by “laid back” you mean fewer rules or less adherence to the rules, I would not make that assumption.

Equal, IMO.

Visit both on their revisit days, if possible. One should become a clear favorite. Good luck.

This is honestly something only you can answer. Are you going to revisit days? Have you met the soccer team and coaches? How do you feel about harkness for all your classes. Do you like being right in the town or being separate. My kiddo had the same decision to make last year. He ended up at Exeter, but that was based off of his criteria. They are both rigorous. They both have community service, you can play piano at both. Science is strong at both. I also wouldn’t say Exeter is formal or strict. There is a LOT of freedom there. Feel free to PM me. But here is a link to check out.

Go revisit both and see what feels better to you. How did you feel at your initial visit to each? Have you talked to the soccer coaches? Students on teams? There is not a bad choice here - just what will be better for you for the next 2 years.
